The prominent Pamaran clan that has hailed from Basilan Province for over a century now will hold anew a reunion on May 2-3 in Zamboanga City.

The announcement was made by Elnorita “Noring” Pamaran-Tugung, who is a member of the reunion working committee.  It will be the second such grand reunion, with the first having been held three years ago also in Zamboanga City.

“The Pamaran reunion aims to unite and bond  the clan members bearing the Pamaran lineage with guests and encourage solidarity though memorable activities during the upcoming event,” said Noring Tugung. Clan membership counts into several hundreds, many of whom are now residing throughout the Philippines and foreign countries. They are the descendants of their ancestors Gabino and Cayetano Pamaran.

The two Pamaran brothers are nephews of the acknowledged founder of Lamitan town in Basilan, Pedro Cuevas also known royally as Datu Kalun.

Datu Kalun asked the Pamaran brothers to emigrate to Basilan from the Cavite – their original hometown - in the early 1900s after he united through his exploits the native Yakans.

Reunion theme is “One Dream, One United Family”.

Venue of the first day’s assembly will be Astoria Regency in Pasonanca, while the second day activities will take place in La Vista Beach Resort in Upper Calarian, Noring Tugung said.

The reunion working committee is headed by its adviser Virgilio C. Pamaran, Sr., who is also the founder of the  Cuevas-Pamaran-Antonio-Flores Family Association. Committee members include Arlene Pamaran-Bucoy, Lorna Pamaran-Dionio, Edwin and Bibing Pamaran, Jung-Jung Pamaran Bagsic, Dante and Rowena Pamaran-Mendez, and Boy and Yolly Pamaran-Galam.
