ZCWD, DENR holds IECC at Sitio Duminatag PDF Print E-mail

The Zamboanga City Water District, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), conducted an “Information, Education and Communication Campaign (IECC)” at Sitio Duminatag, at the boundary of Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Norte on May 13, 2014.

ZCWD and DENR informed the residents of Duminatag about the significance of protecting and preserving the Pasonanca watershed. About 70 residents attended the information drive. Some were kids, adults and senior citizens who were present during the orientation. The residents were all concerned about their livelihood and the lot they own at the buffer zone.

DENR personnel discussed the plans and programs for the residents at the buffer zone area. It will provide seedlings of fruit-bearing trees, vegetablesand others to augment people’s sources of livelihood activities.Aside from farming, fishingmay also be considered as anothermeans of income.

ZCWD personnel supported the residents to be considerably responsible in their community, to preserve the environment, save the ecosystem from damaging andtreasurethe existingbliss among others. The residents were also educated on the importance of the security and protection of the watershed. Because of the many detrimental effects at the watershed, measures have to keep safeguarding it from human errors.

Inform, educate, communicate and campaign for the conservation, preservation and protection of the Pasonanca watershed. These among others are the top priorities of the ZCWD and DENR. More IECC programs are on schedule for the other barangays.
