June 5 set for IP selection of mandatory rep to Council PDF Print E-mail

The Zamboanga City Indigenous Peoples Council of Leaders has set June 5, 2014 as the first General Assembly to finally select the mandatory representative to the Sangguniang Panlungsod on June 5, 2014 to be held at Marcian Business Center, this city, it was disclosed by Convener Prof. Ali T. Yacub, Al-Hj to GCCPBA-media group recently.

Expected to come to the assembly coming from the five tribes of the city are the recognized tribal leaders from the Subanen, Badjao, Sama Bangingi, Kolibugan and Yakan, numbering about 140.

Those interested to be nominated by the tribal leaders must submit all the required documents not later than May 30, 2014 to the Office of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples located at Gov. Camins St., this City, Yacub said.

The accepted nominees after submitting their required credentials to the Screening and Evaluation Committee composed of Fr. Angel C. Calvo, CMF, Dir. Moh. Taha Arakama, Engr. George Jocutan and two other members to be named later pending their acceptance to the Screening Committee, Yacub said.
