PNRC launches Blood Donors Month ‘14 PDF Print E-mail

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Zamboanga Chapter, kicked off last week the observance of Blood Donors Month 2014 at the Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat gymnasium, Zamboanga City State of Marine Technology (ZCSCMT).

This year’s theme is “Safe Blood for Serving Mother: Give Blood to Those Who Gave Life”

The PNRC campaign focuses on increasing awareness on why timely access to safe blood and blood is essential for all countries as part of a comprehensive approach to prevent maternal deaths. It also encourages more people to donate blood voluntarily. It demonstrates how health system and policy-makers work to make blood transfusion safe and accessible to the people.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1021 dated June 09, 1997, the month of July every year is declared as Blood Donors Month in the Philippines.

In last week’s event, the PRC presented the new set of officers of Red Cross Emergency Responds Team (RCERT) which was followed by an oath taking. The RCERT members swore that they will faithfully and conscientially discharge to the best of their ability and duties and obligation. They will also render inviolate non-racial, non-sectarian and non-partisan status of this great organization for and in the name of suffering humanity as guaranteed in the charter of the International Red Cross.

The new set of officers presented yesterday are – Michael Jan Yucor — President, Jeremy Balbon — Vice President for Operation, Sheena Marie Tubaing — Vice President for Admin, Jenniviene Flores — Secretary, Jade Midel — Treasurer, Kienoh Renz Miranda — Auditor, Dominic Stephen Villacosta — P.I.O, Jobert Neil Castro — Project Manager and  Naser Khalfan Ali E. Al Raisi, Crisanto Mendoza, Leo Lacastesantos and Rasheed Dantes, Board Members.

The participants were united from different offices – Philippine National Red Cross, Philippine Air Force, Professional Plumbers Association of the Philippines, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Zamboanga City Medical Center, Zamboanga Doctors Hospital, Ciudad Medical Center, Philippine Coconut Authority, Western Mindanao Medical Center, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Camp Navarro General Hospital, Water District Group, and the Department of Education.

The opening program of the event was held at the Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat gymnasium at 9:00 a.m. it started with the Invocation and followed by the singing of the national anthem and Zamboanga Hermosa.
