The Department of Education is primarily supporting a school program dubbed as Brigada Eskwela. It is a yearly activity that brings in spirit of volunteerism among internal and external stakeholders to help improve the public and private schools in terms of rehabilitation as well as make them ‘disaster-ready.’

Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 32, s 2014, this year’s theme is “Making Our Schools Safer”, it is advantageous on our part as Zamboangueños because many of our schools are now undertaking repair due to the floods and armed conflict which happened last year and directly caused damage to property and displacement of families. And so, a lot of schools in the city have been used to house the victims or evacuees. With the collaboration and assistance extended by stakeholders, teachers, civic organizations, PTA officials, School Governing Council & Local Government Unit, slowly ,we have started to bridge gaps, rebuild infrastructures and develop disaster- resilient school communities emphasizing more attention in easing the school ‘s vulnerability to both natural and human- made disasters.

Adjudged recently as the best implementer of Brigada Eskwela (Large school category), Ayala National High School will again represent the Zamboanga City Division and shall compete against other big schools in Region IX.

Last year, Ayala NHS, having bagged the said award in the regional level, was awarded at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Malate Metro Manila. Inspired and fulfilled, Dr. Socorro Canaya, Secondary School Principal IV with Mr. Pedro Melchor Natividad, OIC, Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Julieto Fernandez, Asst. Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Mildred Dayao, ES I, Division Brigada Eskwela Coordinator, Mrs, Simplicia Jamahali, MT- I & Mrs. Emma Marba- ANHS teachers gladly and proudly accepted the award. The honor received has motivated them to even work harder proving that in our own little ways, we can help our government by doing something beneficial for our students most especially  those  enrolled in public schools.

This week, the regional monitoring and evaluation team will be visiting the school to conduct actual evaluation verifying the documents submitted and checking on the projects that have been undertaken and realized.
