The rehabilitation works on the provincial hospital in the nearby Zamboanga Sibugay province is expected to be finished next month as it is now 80 percent completed, a provincial official announced Monday.

Zamboanga Sibugay Information Officer Roel Paloma said the Department of Health (DOH) through its Health Facility Enhancement Program has allocated P12 million for the rehabilitation of the medical facility.

Paloma said the hospital, which only has only 25-patient authorized bed capacity (ABC), can provide more comfortable and spacious place once the rehabilitation works are completed.

However, Paloma said the hospital is serving more than 100 patients at present.

Paloma said the rehabilitation works started in February this year. The scope of work includes almost the entire health facility.

Paloma said majority of the patients being served by the hospital are beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

He said the provincial hospital sticks to the No Balance Billing (NBB) policy and offers PhilHealth’s “Point of Care Enrollment Program,” which is being implemented in partnership with the DOH, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local government units.

He said the provincial hospital is run by 22 physicians with 200 personnel including contractual and job order employees.
