AFP holds mangrove tree planting in Sulu PDF Print E-mail

Jolo, Sulu — The 2nd Marine Brigade conducted Mangrove Planting of about 2,000 propagules  in Bangas Island, Panglima Tahil, Sulu,  one of the potential tourist islands in the province on November 27, 2014. This activity is part of the post celebration of the 64th Marine Birthday of the 2MBDE. The whole day event was participated by different AFP units and invited stakeholders from Local Government Units (LGUs), Non Government Organizations (NGOs) and other Law Enforcement Agencies in the province.

This activity is in support of the implementation of the National Greening Program of the province which is in consonance with the Executive Order No. 26 series of 2011 dated February 24, 2011, a government program that aims to plant 1.5 billion trees nationwide before the end of 2016.

The AFP and the Provincial Government of Sulu are working closely for the preservation and conservation of the natural resources and delivery of basic services to the community to attain peace and prosperity in the province.
