Ø Mayor Beng Climaco and City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr. together with the Silsillah Dialogue Movement led by Fr. Sebastiano D’Ambra led the inauguration of Silcare Center at the Masepla Transitory Site for internally displaced persons (IDPs). The event is part of the observance of the World Interfaith Harmony Week.

Ø The search for 2015 Achiever Awards, one of the highlights of the Dia de Zamboanga on Feb. 26, is now on. Nomination forms are available at the City Public Information Division under the Office of the City Mayor at the City Hall annex building, telephone numbers 990-1356. Deadline for submission of nominations is Feb. 16, 2015.

Ø Grand market sale dubbed “Grandioso Venta del Mercado” will reel off at Plaza Pershing Feb. 19-26 as part of Dia de Zamboanga highlights. It is aimed at reaching out to the city’s 98 barangays and look for products that will be showcased during the City Charm activity in September with business delegates from China coming over.

Ø The Asia Foundation through the Integrated Resource Development for Tri-People (IRDT) will facilitate the peace covenant signing between IDPs represented by their religious and community leaders and the host communities of Tulungatung and Mampang represented by the barangay officials. Schedule for the signing ceremony will be announced later.

Ø Pursuant to COMELEC Resolution 9930, the Sangguniang Kabataan election is reset to April 25, 2015. The election period earlier set from Feb. 6-March 2 has also been moved to March 26-May 10.

Ø The City Peace and Order Council during its first meeting for 2015 discussed varied security issues to include the Jan. 23 explosion in Guiwan, the shooting incidents and other anti-crime efforts as well as the Inter-Agency Coordination mechanism.
