One of ZAMBOECOZONE’s newest locators inaugurated its water bottling facility Sundayat the 1st Industrial Park at San Ramon, Zamboanga City.

The P6 million bottling factory will produce bottled water that will serve Region IX and occupy a 2,000-square meter area inside the zone to include a 1,000-sq. meter standard manufacturing building.

Mr. Cliff C. Reynera, proprietor of the Eco Bottling Enterprises, said that the manufacture of bottled water will consist of collecting water from a suitable spring water source within the ZAMBOECOZONE, then process it in compliance with the standards of quality and requirement mandated by the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD).

The process for the production of bacteria free, cleanand palatable bottled water was developed by known brands in the country that consist of a simple process involving physical operations of settling, filtration and Ultra Violet radiation treatment, Mr. Reynera said.

The plant will produce some 624,000 bottles a year of three different sizes–  350ml., 500 ml. and 1 liter bottles. The 350 ml. bottled water will dominate production up to 50%, with the 500 ml. and 1 liter bottled water will have 40% and 10% share, respectively.

The highly mechanized plant will have a minimal direct employment of only 15 personnel for the first year of operation, which would also assure the strict sanitation standards of quality of BFAD.

The treatment of raw water from the source involves a series of filtration and treatment before filling it to Polyethylene terephthalate or PET bottle containers.

The processing operation involves Silica Sand filtration, Activated Carbon filtration, Sodium Ion exchange, Reverse Osmosis, filling and capping, labelling, shrink wrapping, and storage.
