Ø The observance of Fire Prevention Month kicked off March 1st with a motorcade in major thoroughfares and participated by firefighters from the Bureau of Fire regional office, Zamboanga City Fire District, Barangay fire brigades and fire volunteers from the industrial and business sectors. The public is urged to be alert, vigilant and cooperative to avert fire incidents.

Ø The Dia de Zamboanga Jobs Fair organized by the PESO-CSWDO in coordination with DOLE, TESDA, POEA and ABS-CBN on Feb. 26 registered almost 600 applicants with 422 considered qualified pending examinations, trade test and medical test and hired on the spot 45 applicants. A total of 18 local recruitment agencies including canning factories and 8 overseas companies participated in the fair that made rolled out 1,700 local vacancies and 10,300 overseas vacancies.

Ø Registration for the 2015 Summer Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) continues at the CSWDO in Pettit Barracks and in the different barangays. First batch for the SPES program which will start early April will compose of college students while the second batch will include high school students.

Ø One hundred houses on stilts constructed under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) in barangay Taluksangay were recently turned over by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to the city government through Mayor Beng Climaco and District II Cong. Lilia Nuno intended for families were displaced by the 2013 siege.

Hingming Ladjaali- Public Service; Jessica Mariano Francisco- City Government Service; Western Mindanao State University- Academic (Institution); Genevieve Kulong- Academic (Individual); Nonito Bernardo- Investment Promotion; Jimmy’s Satti for Tourism-Oriented Establishment; and Maj. Jaran Abdula, PA, and M/Sgt. Joseph Fernando, PA- Community Service. Awarding rite was held at Centro Latino, Feb. 25.
