The Zamboanga Consortium for Health Research and Development-(ZCHRD) held the 1st Regional Health Research Summit at the Grand Astoria Hotel, on August 17 and 18, 2011.

The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines (MCNAP) Zamboanga City Chapter, Inc., with the theme “Interplay of Health and Culture in Zamboanga Peninsula”.

The main event of the activity was the presentation of papers and posters (completed researches) generated by researchers, students, practitioners of health community based interventions, public health and medical education.

The significant contribution of this research activity was the generation of proceedings on recently conducted studies to explore areas for agency collaboration, networking and resource sharing among member research and development institutions.
Around 25 papers/posters were presented during the summit.

Aside from completed research presentations, the summit also conducted Grand Proposal Write-shop for new health research proposal using the format and guidelines of Department of Science and Technology-Grants-in-Aid (DOST-GIA) program.

The consortium is led by the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) with Dr. Grace Rebollos as the chairperson.
