Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Juliano-Soliman said that the agency has removed 155,000 families from the roster of its “Pantawid Pilipino Pamilyang Program” (4Ps) after follow-up investigations showed that they were not poverty stricken as they earlier claimed.

In the same vein, around 400 families out of the 155,000 earlier mentioned voluntarily requested to be removed from the program as their financial status have improved.

Soliman also said that 2.2 million families remained beneficiaries of the program. She said they were targeting to include a total of 2.3 million families to be included in the program.

She also clarified that 4Ps was not a dole-out strategy of the government as it included an “exit strategy” for beneficiaries whose plight had improved.
4Ps beneficiaries are given P1,400 a month to augment their food and medicine needs.
