ANNOUNCEMENT: 1st-APLUMA is on for a better change, wider political thrust and scope. Its acronym translation now reads: Unang Alyansang Pag-asa ng Lahi at Uring Mamamahayag-Manggagawa.

This way, we can better serve not just our fellow mediamen but also the less fortunate sectors of society, like the ordinary workers who are making a living out of their blood, sweat and tears, through our 1ST-APLUMA Public Serbilis Program.

ONE problem besetting our poor and underprivileged mediamen and fellow Filipinos is the high cost of health care in the country.

This is the main reason why the slogan of a vitamin brand “sa panahon ngayon, bawal magkasakit” has made it through our consciousness. It is really very hard to get sick nowadays, with prices of medicines and health services skyrocketing.

We, at 1st-APLUMA, will try to somehow ease the burden of our countrymen by serving as bridge to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), which provides medical help to needy Filipinos.

Anyone reading this column can go to our website (http://1st-apluma.yolasite.com) where they can email to us details of their medical problems.

We only require those who will seek our help to have their medical abstract ready because it is one of the requirements to get financial assistance from PCSO.

Also, 1ST-APLUMA can also help workers who have problems with the Social Security System (SSS), particularly their status, contributions and loans.

They can also send the details of their problems through our website (http://1st-apluma.yolasite.com) and we will attend to it immediately, Public Serbilis ika nga.

We can also help our countrymen with problems with other government agencies, like the Government Service Insurance System, Land Transportation Office, Metro Manila Development Authority.

This is part and parcel of 1ST-APLUMA’s commitment to ease the burden of the public, especially the needy.
