The Zamboanga City Water District conducted the Advanced Policy Makers’ Seminar on August 23-25, 2011 at the roof deck of the Sky Park Hotel, Zamboanga City.

General Manager  Leonardo Rey D. Vasquez welcomed the 15 board directors from different water districts during the opening of the seminar. The following are the participants of the seminar: Dir. Edgar C. Lopez of Angeles  Water District; Dir. Raul I. Olivares of San Pedro Water District; Dir. Milagros Del Rosario Alano of Isabela Water District; Dir. Jeam M. Espanta and Dir. Fidel D. Tiglao of Mabalacat Water District; Dir. Clarita M. Casinillo and Dir. Magdalena G. Belocura of Maluso Water District; Dir. Lucy Fudulla and Digna Andalicio of Odiongan Water District; and Zamboanga City Water District was represented by Dir. Nelida F. Atilano. Virac Water District had the biggest number of participants with Dir. Antonio O. Kiong, Dir. Pedro S. Aldea, Dir. Vietrez P. David-Abella, Dir. Arlene P. Arcilla, and Dir. Alfeo L. Socito.

The three-day seminar was handled by the resource speaker Engr. Rei Bernardo of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). The seminar was designed for water district directors and general managers who have already attended the basic Policy Makers’ Seminar. The participants were trained to recognize and accept the role of the Board of Directors in the developmental planning for the Water District; Acquire knowledge and skills in the preparation of short-range and long-range plans for the Water District and the application of relevant techniques   for sound implementation and control; Prepare drafts of short-range developmental plan for Water Districts and; Monitor the performance of the Water District according to objectives and plans.

The participants also visited the intake at Upper Pasonanca. It provided an opportunity for the participants to exchange notes on the facility as Engr. Teotimo Reyes provided a guided tour to the participants in the area.
