Commander Ondos N. Sahdin, spokesman of the MNLF-Nascom, Task Force Mindanao, has asked the support of Basilan Gov. Jum Akbar for President Noynoy Aquino to appoint him OIC governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Ondos said it is important that a representative of the MNLF to lead the ARMM because of the Sept. 2, 1996 peace agreement which the government has into with the MNLF.

In a letter to President Aquino, Ondos said if he is appointed OIC governor, he will waste the money intended to improve the lives of Mindanaoans “because I am a God fearing person.”

He said if appointed, he will come up with livelihood projects for the poor people in Mindanao.
“If there are livelihood opportunities for the poor, Mindanao will become peaceful,” Ondos said.

Moreover, Ondos said if he is appointed OIC-governor, he will work for the unity of the people, including the MNLF and the MILF because “if there is unity, there will be lasting peace.”

He said as OIC-governor, he will call on Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and  PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalso to help attain lasting peace in Mindanao for the benefit of the people.
