Ayala National High School had its thanksgiving mass and anniversary program at the ANHS Audience Hall on September 5, 2011. Officiating the mass was Rev. Fr. Amado “ Ding” Vaño, OLMC Parish Priest.

In his homily, Fr. Vano expressed  gratitude to the school for having a thanksgiving mass as part of its celebration. He congratulated the teachers and the School Principal for the celebration. He even let  students memorize some verses from the bible for a cash prize. Some received bibles. After all, he said,  “It’s your foundation day.”

ANHS commemorated her 45th anniversary with a number of activities lined up. Commencing the event on Sept. 2, was a parade and sports fest followed. Last September 3, literary, dance and academic contests and Coronation Rites of ANHS king and Queen 2011 were held in the campus and in the evening the teachers welcomed the alumni with a bang!

This year, the theme is “ANHS celebrates forty five years of success and commitment in developing students’ quality performance.
Highlighted during the anniversary program was a parade and review. Reading of ANHS history was done by Mrs. Norma B. Fernando, MT I.

The guest speaker, Mayor Celso L. Lobregat was represented by Mr. Mario Roca, Executive Assistant to the Mayor. Delivering the message of Lobregat, Roca said that the local government has remained consistent and focused on its goals. More school buildings have been constructed and teaching force has been added to a number of public elementary and high schools. All of these are for the comfort of the students so that performance will be maximized, he added. However, all these hugely depend not on us and definitely not solely on teachers but much on the students. He also mentioned about latest achievements and contributions of the mayor in the field of education as one of his major priorities.

Dr. Dolores B. Alcantara, Schools Division Superintendent, also graced the affair. In her inspirational message, she stressed the importance of Good health. Teachers could not teach the students well if they were unhealthy. She was happy congratulating Dr. Socorro Canaya and the teachers for the improved campus landmarks, physical facilities and the students’ demeanor as well.

Present during the program were Dr. Arlita Tubongbanua, former Principal of ANHS, Mrs. Anabelia Espinosa, Principal of Ramon Enriquez Memorial High school, Ms. Gloria Carpio, Principal of Baluno NHS and other guests.

Also highlighted in the program was the awarding of plague of recognition to the stakeholders like Peace Advocate Zamboanga, Ayala Police Station Personnel, PTCA officials, Barangay Council and other establishments situated in Ayala.

ANHS has been in existence since 1966 under the administration of Mr. Bernardo Artezano until 1969. The school then was headed by different principals, Mrs. Raimunda Banico from 1969- 1974, Mr. Jose Mas from 1974 to 1976, Mr. Roberto Villares from 1976- 1977, Mrs. Lucila Martinez from 1977- 1988, Dr. Arlita Tubongbanua from 1988- 2007, Dr. Maria Pilar Gregorio from 2007- 2010 and presently, Dr. Socorro P. Canaya who then gave the forwarding statement during the ceremony.
