CEBU CITY – Cebu’s top police officials said they will arrest Sen. Panfilo Lacson, regardless of his position, amid reports of alleged sightings of the senator in a northern Cebu town.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Ramon Melvin Buenafe said the police will arrest Lacson even if he is a senator.

Buenafe told reporters the law should apply to all or none at all. He said they are without fear or favor in conducting the investigation.

”We will report if Lacson is found here in Cebu. We assure the public of appropriate actions,” he said.

Buenafe said it is a possibility Lacson is in Cebu.

”He has established reputation here and gained a lot of friends, so it’s possible,” Buenafe said.

Cebu Provincial Police Office Chief Erson Digal said they have received a report that Lacson is in Cebu.

”If we found him, we’ll arrest him,” Digal said.

However, Digal said he already ordered the town police chief to search for Lacson in the area.

He said the search turned out to be negative.
