KAKAMPI MO ANG BATAS: Why can’t we see the solution to our woes? PDF Print E-mail

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand…” (Isaiah  44:18, the Holy Bible).

HOW LONG CAN THAI ARMY KEEP THE PEACE? Thailand’s Army may have taken control of the country with martial law and coup d’ e-tat,  and therefore stopped further political strife for the time being, but the real question is, how long will this military-sponsored, temporary peace, last, given the conceded willingness of the Thai people to fight?

I am sure that it is not going to be long before Thais will flood the streets once more and then challenge the Army itself, or any other military authority. Then, the justification given for the martial law and coup d’ e-tat by Army Commander General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, which is to avoid plunging Thailand into a war similar to what happened in Ukraine or Egypt, would turn out to be pure hogwash.

Indeed, martial law, coup d’ e-tat, mass actions, protests, rebellion, and even the Philippine-born “people power” phenomenon, are not permanent solutions to political turmoil, corruption in office, and abuse of power by politicians. The Philippine experience has shown that, after corrupt officials are thrown out of power via “people power”, more corrupt men and women are installed.

BEING POOR, BEING RICH: As a result, people who were poor before, continue being poor under the new regime. People who were abused by those in power before, continue to be abused by their new leaders. People who are poor remain poor, and people who are rich  become richer, under the patronage of officials who were installed in power by their claim to righteous and pro-people governance.

For the poor, change would actually denote a poorer station in life, compared to their already poor and impoverished condition under a former government. For the rich, change would mean a richer lifestyle, all because the new government is bent on repaying campaign contributions and other political favors from people who helped them win.

Announcements of economic turn-around, increased gross domestic product year after year under the new regime, improved credit ratings and increased investors’ confidence, and other supposed economic successes, are either mere fabrications, or outright propaganda lies designed to mislead the people, to give them a feeling of hope that a better life is dawning for them.

WHY DO WE FAIL TO SEE THE SOLUTION TO OUR WOES? The end result of all these? Further disparity between the rich and the poor, which gives rise to further political turmoil, greater bloodshed, and more destruction of entire nations, often aggravated by worsening global warming and climate change.

What is happening to many countries now is an attestation of this fact—that death and destruction are swallowing up the entire world, at a rate that is so fast we couldn’t even blink our lashes anymore without one country or people crashing into one kind or so of grave trouble.

It is awesome, if it were not so stupidly funny. How come no one is even considering the only effective solution to all these problems? How come no one is willing to humble himself  and say that man cannot, by himself, solve these ills that are bringing this whole world to its final destruction, and that only God can help us now? Why cannot our eyes see and understand this truth?
