The Silsilah Dialogue Movement has published a 12-page primer on watersheds. This pamphlet is in support of Silsilah’s advocacy to let the public know about the 7 watersheds of Zamboanga City, their protection and preservation.

This stand is not to be taken simply as the “tree-hugger” outlook of Silsilah but the Movement’s great concern for climate change and its inevitable impact on sources of fresh water.

The UN has taken a very strong stand on warning the world about the dire results to human life, human economic activity and inter-nation relationships on account of diminishing access to fresh water as a consequence of climate change.

It is hoped that the basic information in the Watershed Primer ill arouse readers to know more about watersheds and especially look into the information that have direct bearing on the local situation, information as to the Co-Management Agreement, the Watershed Management Council, The Supreme Court’s 2011 Writ of Kalikasan banning mining in the Zamboanga Peninsula and other relevant information.

With the support of the Friends of the Watersheds Movement and the distribution of the Watershed Primer the Silsilah Dialogue Movement will engage more people in protecting and preserving the watersheds of Zamboanga City.
