LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…” (Philippians 4:6, the Holy Bible).

PRAYER IS THE ANSWER TO EVERY PROBLEM IN LIFE: A poem I found posted on a table inside a courtroom in Manila sometime in 1983, when I first became a lawyer attending my first-ever court hearing, confirms the power of prayer, thus:

“Prayer is the answer to every problem in life. It puts us in tune with Divine Wisdom, which knows how to adjust everything perfectly. So often, we do not pray in certain situations because from our standpoint, the outlook is hopeless. But nothing is impossible with God.

“Nothing is so entangled it cannot be remedied. No human relationship is too strained to bring about reconciliation and understanding. No habit so deep-rooted that it cannot be overcome. No one is so weak that he cannot be strong. No one is so ill that he cannot be healed. No mind is so dull that it cannot be made brilliant.

“Whatever we need if trust God, He will supply it. If anything is causing worry and anxiety, let us stop rehearsing the difficulty and trust God for love, healing and power.”

DO NOT WORRY, TRUST GOD: The Bible has another way of explaining this phenomenon of prayer. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus, our God and Savior, exhorts us not to worry about our life, or about anything else. In fact, we are asked to ponder the question, “who among you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?”

In Matthew 6:34, we are told not to worry about tomorrow, which should be the one to worry about itself, for today has enough troubles of its own. The reason for all these assurances is that, God has a good plan for all of us, a plan not to harm us but to prosper us, a plan of hope-filled tomorrow (see Jeremiah 29:11).

And we can hold on to this plan, because, according to Numbers 23:19, God is not human that He will lie. Whatever He says He will do, and that this is so because, according to Luke 1:37, nothing is impossible with God. God has empowered those who have accepted and who have faith on Him to do all things, as Philippians 4:13 is saying.

THE SECRET OF OVERCOMING PROBLEMS AND TROUBLES: What then must we do when we are faced with troubles and pressing concerns? Let us first trust the Lord with all our hearts and do not lean on our own understanding, and that, in all our ways we should acknowledge Him and He will make our paths successful (see Proverbs 3:5-6).

Let us read the Bible everyday, and meditate on its verses day and night, and be careful to obey everything written in it, then we can become truly successful and prosperous (see Joshua 1:8). Indeed, “nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa Diyos ang gawa” (God is merciful, God is the one who acts for our good), and all that we should do is pray without ceasing (Ephesians 6:18).
