LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance…” (1 Timothy 4:8-9, the Holy Bible).

NO WAY PACQUIAO WILL LOSE MACAU FIGHT: I wrote this column about four hours before Filipino boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao fought American Chris Algieri at the Cotai Arena in Macau, but even then, I was already convinced there was no way Algieri would beat Pacquiao. And I was not even thinking about who was the better boxer between the two.

What I was sure about was that Pacquiao will win this November 23, 2014 fight, in preparation for the boxing fight of the century, as it were, which is the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout next year. There is no way the present gods of professional boxing would be barred from proceeding with this prized fight, what with the millions and millions of dollars it would bring them!

BRO. EDDIE-MAR TANDEM IN 2016 PUSHED: This is an exciting reaction from a guy named Edgar Caldea, who is a fellow member in the Internet group capizforum@yahoogroups.com: “Dear Atty. Batas, first time to send you a reaction, but please consider this suggestion, and let Secretary Mar Roxas and President Aquino think of this.

“Since Bro. Eddie Villanueva is already part of the Liberal Party because of his son in Malacanang, the most helpful team for the 2016 elections is, Bro. Eddie for President, and Secretary Mar as Vice President. Bro. Eddie is a God-fearing person, and he will not run after the President for his failures, and for the DAP and PDAF anomalies.

“Because Mar is good in management, the two of them will be a good tandem for 2016. Let this new tandem be presented to the LP. Just share this to PNoy. Thank you Atty. Batas.” There, Edgar Caldez, I know PNoy and Mar, and even Bro. Eddie will be able to read your reaction now.

MKS: THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO FIGHT DENGUE: Mike Edenburn is a Rotarian par excellence who is now residing in Calbayog City in Samar, yes, but he is also a businessman with a keen eye on fighting malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and other diseases arising from mosquito bites, which are noted to be on the rise in the Philippines even by the World Health Organization (WhO).

So Mike has introduced a technology coming from the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to fight mosquitoes in the country, which is called the “MKS”, or the mosquito killing system. It is actually based on a machine which captures mosquitoes without using chemicals, by attracting the insects towards it and then killing them instantly.

Mike describes how the system works: “every six to nine minutes, the MKS cycles through various temperatures and carbon dioxide emissions to attract mosquitoes. After a fan forces the mosquitoes against an electrical grid, the remains are expelled through the bottom on the unit, where they can be either collected or returned naturally to the environment.” Interested parties may call my numbers below!

VIOLATION OF FREE PRESS GUARANTEE: No matter how President Aquino and his government may justify their decision to bar foreign journalists from coming to the country to exercise their profession here, it is clear they violated the Constitutional guarantee of free press and free speech. No country should ever bar newsmen from exercising their profession, unless there is a clear proof that they are security threats to Filipinos. If their only crime is “insulting” the President with tough questions, it is time for all of us to be really sorry.
