LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you…” (Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in John 15:3, the Holy Bible).

IS PNOY A TRUE FRIEND OF FILIPINOS? In his message during the necrological services for the 44 Special Action Force officers and men who were killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, on January 25, 2015, President Aquino once more lifted quotations from the Bible, this time referring to John 15:13 to extol the sacrifice of life offered by the fallen policemen for the country.

John 15:13, quoting Jesus, our God and Savior, reads: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” When He said this, Jesus was actually prophesying about Himself, that because He dearly loved man despite his sins, He was giving up His life for them, so their sins could be forgiven.

Now, Filipinos are both asking and wishing: is there anyone from the Aquino government, from the President down to the lowliest of his officials, who is a real friend of the Filipino people, in the nature of the friend adverted to in John 15:13?

COUP JITTERS: PNOY HAS NO ONE TO BLAME BUT HIS FAMILY: If coup jitters are once again being felt in the country today, President Aquino and his government would have no one else to blame but the people who planned, staged, and carried out the so-called “people power revolution” in 1986, and who thereafter legalized “people power”—or the intervention of ordinary Filipinos in government, to the extent of expelling their officials—in the 1987 Constitution of President Corazon C. Aquino.

Indeed, meddling in all levels of government has been institutionalized and accepted as a legal recourse of Filipinos who are dissatisfied with their president, vice president, senators, congressmen, and all other elected officials, under Sections 15 and 16 of the Cory’s 1987 Constitution.

In 1986, people power was an idea that appealed to everyone who wanted to oust then President Marcos, for reasons of their own, even if this was greatly contrary to the Biblical admonitions about subjecting one’s self to governing authorities (see Romans 13:1-2, Hebrews 13:17-18, 1 Peter 2:13, and even Titus 2:9). It is therefore the height of irony that people power would now be used against the son of the woman who pushed for, and benefitted, from it.

TITLE FROM FALSIFIED DOCUMENT IS VOID: Lydia T. is complaining that her sister-in-law managed to have the title of the land owned by Lydia T’s parents registered in her, the sister-in-law’s, name, using a document which appears to have been signed long after the parents have died. She wants to know if she can reinstate the title of her parents and cancel the title given to the sister-in-law.

The answer is, yes, the title of the sister-in-law can be cancelled, and the title of the real owners of the property covered therein, reinstated. Under the law, when a document purportedly transferring the title of a property could be shown to be fraudulent, as when the signatories appeared to have signed it long after their death, that document could be set aside and the title issued pursuant thereto cancelled.

“PILIPINO”: CHOSEN AND PURIFIED BY GOD: One more proof that the Church of Jesus, mentioned in Matthew 16:18 of the Bible, is to be established (or is already established) in the Philippines is the very name by which men and women in the country are being called, which is “Pilipino”. This actually means “pili” (or chosen by God, in John 15:16 and Ephesians 1:4), and “pino” (or refined, pure, and righteous, in John 15:3).
