Mr. Hemingway, an American writer was based in Florida USA then moved to Cuba and stayed in Havana as his listening post, to write his famous book about the civil war in Spain led by Gen. Franco — FOR WHOM THE BELLS TOLL. “No man is an island entire of itself. He is a part of the continent and a part of the main. When the bells toll, it tolls for thee”.

The late Pres. Marcos was not yet a president when he fought in Bataan under the American flag (WWII). We were an American colony and hence he is an American soldier entitled to a decent burial. This is the issue and not his alleged wrongdoing during his administration. President Benigno Aquino III should study the issue for reconsideration for the sake of our country, a strong ally of America, a nation born in battles. This is the fulcrum to stop all these innuendos of our divided people and unite us together to move our country forward for the common good. If this will be achieved the soonest as possible, the memorial service can be moved in the hometown of the Marcos family to provide the fallen hero an appropriate memorial service for the honor sought for. Finally, this will be the legacy of Pres. Aquino after his term. The rest will be history.. --SANTIAGO A. DE LEON
