KAKAMPI MO ANG BATAS

BY Atty. BATAS MAURICIO

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose…” (Isaiah 46:11, the Holy Bible).

GOD’S WORK FOR THE END OF THE WORLD: In the work to proclaim the Word of God and save souls for eternal life in Paradise, it is clear that there are chosen individuals and groups who have been mandated to carry out God’s instructions or purpose.

For the Israelites and the earliest believers, there were Moses, Aaron, Joshua, and a host of other leaders who have been entrusted with the proclamation of the Word and the salvation of souls. For the Gentiles and the rest of the world, there was Paul, and the other disciples.

But the Bible has made it clear that the work of God did not end with Paul. There is a work which God wants carried out, particularly and especially in preparation for the coming end of the world, and the Second Coming of Jesus, our God and Savior.

PROCLAMATION OF THE GOSPEL IS END-TIME WORK: What is this “end of the world” work which God wants carried out? It is that which Jesus Himself proclaimed in Matthew 24:14, which says: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come…”

It is fairly certain that Jesus commissioned someone or some group for this end-time-work. Because of its importance and sensitivity, He wants to make sure that His chosen people will be the one to do the preaching of the Gospel of the Kingdom. Consequently, Jesus declared He was building His own Church.

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, in part, “… on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it…” Clearly, it is the very Church of Jesus which was chosen by Him to preach His Gospel.

RP IS WHERE JESUS PUT UP HIS CHURCH: Now, it maybe asked: where did Jesus build His Church? Matthew 16 did not say exactly where, but there are other parts of the Bible which are instructive. Isaiah 46:11 for one clearly states that God will call His leader and His people—His Church—from the “east”, from the “far off land”, precisely to fulfill His purpose.

Where is this “east” and “far off land” where Jesus is to build His Church? The Bible has no specific identification of this place, but God, in His great omniscience, provided the answer, through historical events, participated in by His believers.

This “east” or “far off land” is clearly the Philippines, and God’s choice of it as the place where He will build His Church was proven during the Second World War, where, in the fight between His believers (the Americans and their allies) and the unbelievers (the Japanese and their allies), the Philippines was fully identified as the “Far East”. More of this next time!
