KAKAMPI MO ANG BATAS

BY Atty. BATAS MAURICIO

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God…” (1 John 3:9, the Holy Bible).

WHERE IS PNOY’S GOV’T? A Safeway passenger bus, with body number 198091 and plate number UVJ 475, represents the major traffic problem in Metro Manila these days, especially if it is driven by a driver whose only link to driving is his driver’s license.

At about past 5 pm, September 15, 2015, this passenger-filled bus relentlessly and recklessly weaved in and out of Quezon Avenue, starting when it was at the corner of Scout Chuatoco St., infront of Pegasus Club, in an insane effort to get ahead of all other vehicles, hundreds of them, really, patiently waiting for their turn to move on, eastward toward Diliman, Quezon City (QC).

Be that as it may, the real tragedy was that there were no enforcers from the Metro Manila Development Authority, Highway Patrol Group, or QC Traffic Police enforcers to stop the Safeway bus from its rampage. Really, where is your government during times like this, President Aquino? (See the photos of this incident at www.facebook.com/attybatas).

NUMB, INCOMPETENT!!! These two words truly aptly describe the government officials, agencies, or instrumentalities that should be expeditiously carrying out the repair or renovation of the stretch of Ortigas Extension in Taytay, Rizal.

Why, the repair and renovation had been going on for ages, leaving that stretch of a very busy highway, it being the link between Eastern Rizal towns and East Metro Manila, terribly unable to cope up with the heavy volume of vehicles passing through it day and night.

Either some officials are simply incompetent (palpak) or totally numb and uncaring (manhid) of our peoples’ sufferings. Either way, and whoever they might be, it is time to kick them out. (See the photos of this incident at www.facebook.com/attybatas).

WHICH CAME FIRST—THE HEAVY TRAFFIC OR THE ACCIDENT? This was the question that hit many motorists plying the Marcos Highway infront of the SM CITY in Marikina City at about lunchtime of September 16, 2015, upon witnessing an accident caused by a truck that violently rammed through the rear of another truck. Both were headed eastward, toward Masinag, Antipolo City, when the accident happened.

Every vehicle at that time, whether east-bound or west-bound, towards C5, were literally crawling on the road, because of heavy traffic. My driver said the driver of the truck that hit the other trucks apparently got sleepy, because of the very slow pace of travel.

So who was it who said traffic was not fatal? Surely, the already heavy traffic in that area at that time became slower all the more. Wow! (See the photos of this incident at www.facebook.com/attybatas).
