Glad to note of the arrival of visitors in the city to celebrate with us the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2015. They have many choices of events to attend. Interestingly, ZAMPEX 2015 - Regional Trade Exposition organized by the Dept of Trade and Industry, formally opened yesterday at the Garden Orchid Hotel Convention Center and will last  till October 11, 2015.

This is one event which I personally recommend for everyone to check out. All products are from Zamboanga Peninsula. What is good about ZAMPEX  is that all  the products on display and on sale are of variety in nature and exhibitors are well picked. Hende lasangan.

ZAMPEX is a well organized event,  managed by experienced government personnel  from the Dept of Trade and Industry.Their exposure to trade fair and exhibit goes a long way. Lucky for us in Zamboanga City as DTI was able to sustain this kind of activity which is worth the visit. Nuay mucho kwento...pero el trabajo sumiso!   Kudos to DTI Regional and City Office.

My deepest gratitude to some farm owners  in the city for attending the Farm Tourism Forum held recently at La Viña Hotel. The event was organized by the City Government through the City Agriculture Office, City Tourism Office and the Dept of Agriculture in cooperation with the Dept of Tourism.

Representatives from Pamucutan,Culianan,Talisayan,Ayala, Patalon and Cacao were present. No less than Vice Mayor Cesar Ituralde was present to represent  Mayor Beng Climaco and two active Councilors Mike Alavar and VP Elago.

The forum was an eye opener for farm operators and farm owners to look into the possibility of engaging into farm tourism.Presentations were made regarding the overview of the farm Tourism Program plus the plans and programs of the City Agriculture’s Office and the City Tourism Office. Moreover, Councilors Alavar and Elago also gave some points on legislation and we look forward to legislative measures supporting farm tourism as promised by the two city dads.

The forum participants experienced the actual farm tour at NJB Farm in Ayala, this city. It was fun, as they were treated with so much stuff like cold fresh milk produced by Savanah Dairy farm , suman kamanting muy sabroso. We visited the mini forest. Oh you must experience the positive vibes you get from the trees, so refreshing, yan saltahan maga toxins desde’l mango orchard was magical more so as we got a glimpse  of the horses, cows, sheeps and goats in the same farm. But the bonus was the sight of the actual milking of the cow, it was AMAZING!

Farm Tourism is trending not just in the Philippines but in other parts of the world too. It has inspired  farm operators and farm owners to develop their creativity to be able to attract more visitors in their farm.

Farm Tourism can be an economic engine which can  boost economic activities in a community. To engage in farm tourism, farm owners or farm operators can coordinate with the City Agriculture Office and the City Tourism Office. — email me
