Table Talk

BY Mike S Apostol

The greatest violation of government is on the constitutional provision of  “the separation of the State and Church. “ This has been violated ever since. In almost any endeavor of government, religion is included. In all public and private schools in the lower grades, prayer is done before classes begins. In almost all programs of government, prayer is always the first part of a program. Even in political rallies, before the national anthem is sung, a prayer is said first. In all undertakings like people’s consultation or policy enforcement bodies or councils in the country, the religious sector is an important member. Perhaps, the next constitutional amendment, this provision should be removed, because, whether the government likes it or not, religion plays an important role in government and its constant violation is a mockery to our sensibilities.

In the Facebook alone, almost all the messages and photographs forwarded by your FB friends are all about religion and politics. One FB friend forwards you a message of their candidate and another FB friend also sends you his candidate, so confusing and monotonous, that sometimes you lose your appetite to support a candidate, because three or five FB friends send you the same political candidate’s message and photograph at the same time, making you appear like a senile individual. Not only that, it is already annoying.

Another group of FB friends sends you religious messages and photograph of God, everyday and almost all of them send the same  picture and message at the same time, making you feel that you are the only sinner in this world. What is unreasonable with these religious messages, some threaten you like “ Share or Type Amen’” or “Don’t scroll if you did not type Amen” or “share this blessings and in one hour, you will be rewarded”. Bribery is cheating and against the teachings of God.  Table Talk welcomes in his FB account religious and political messages for added knowledge and reminders but it should not also dominate the whole FB account and every time you scroll  you see five or six or more same religious pictures and messages, leaving you a little leeway to see your informative messages from other friends.

The Facebook is now made as the battleground of political candidates and different religious sects  to propagate their followers and making the innocent and undecided readers under their mercy. Politics and religion have almost the same style of courting their followers, complete trimmings of an advertisement, messages that attract the reader with a little threat for memory retention. The only difference is, in politics it is tangible while religion is intangible, you cannot see or touch or smell their subject matter.

Scoop: Don’t be hypocrites,  but tell the truth, fight for your candidates or die for your religion, but leave some people alone to decide. They are also a creation of God. Agree or disagree.
