KAKAMPI MO ANG BATAS

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…`Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household’…” (Acts 16:31, the Holy Bible).

WHAT PNOY WANTED FROM MAMASAPANO: With the latest reports coming in about what really happened during the Mamasapano, Maguindanao police operations on January 25, 2015, it is now clear that President Aquino wanted several personal benefits from the killing of Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir, or Marwan.

First, like any other dutiful son, he wanted to give honor to his mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, on her birth anniversary on that date. Recent accounts now make it clear that Aquino himself chose January 25, 2015 as the date for the operations against Marwan, to commemorate the birthday of Cory, and put her on a higher pedestal among Filipinos.

Second, he wanted to use Marwan’s killing by the  Special Action Force as a basis for his nomination to the Nobel Peace Prize, so that he could at least equal the same award given to his mother earlier. Third, it would also appear that there was an inordinate interest in the huge bounty—US $5 million or so—offered by the United States for Marwan’s head. Quite understandable desires, aren’t they?

EASY FILING OF COMPLAINTS AT NLRC: A big number of the people who come to me every Saturday to seek free legal counseling are ordinary workers who wanted to file the appropriate complaints against their employers, and against owners and officers of the companies they have been working with, or from which they have been fired.

While I appreciate the trust these workers have been professing over my capacity to help them, I always tell them that the moment they already have problems with their employers, the best thing that they should immediately do is to go to the nearest office of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in the areas where they are working, and file their complaints there right away.

In filing complaints against employers with NLRC, there is no longer any need for a lawyer’s assistance, because the NLRC has simplified the filing of complaints with it. There is now a prepared form which is in the nature of a “fill-in-the-blanks” document which can be easily filled up and then filed right away. All that the worker needs to do is go to NLRC and then file that document.

BELIEF IN JESUS SAVES ENTIRE FAMILY: A very young member of the Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo (Children of God Blood Kin of the Christ) Church is worried that her family members are no longer attending praise and worship sessions and have in fact stopped reading the Bible and doing Church work now, contrary to what they were taught to do when they first became members of the Church.

She is asking if there is anything she can do, not only to assure God’s continuous blessings on their day-to-day lives, but to merit God’s salvation at the appropriate time. The young member sounded so desperate about her query, and so I directed her to Acts 16:31 of the Bible, where it is said that if a person truly believes in Jesus, accepting Him as God and Savior, not only she but her household will be saved.

Indeed, the blessings and salvation of being a true believer of Jesus, in accepting Him as God and Savior as attested to and proved by the entire Bible, come not only on the believer. It comes to all the other family members who may have gone wayward in the meantime. This is the grace given by a sincere faith in Jesus as God and Savior!
