Sound Snipings

BY Jimmy Cabato

There is a hard-felt acute drop in the city’s water supply, prompting the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) to adopt a new water rationing schedule effective March 1.

ZCWD Assistant General Manager for Operations Engr. Alejo S. Rojas Jr. said the new water rationing schedule will limit water supply to consumers in the city’s three districts to seven hours.

Delivery of water will then be intermittently stopped for a three-hour rest to allow tank build up and ensure  enough pressure to enable the district to reach its farthest service areas in the east, west and central districts of the city.

Based on the new schedule, which Rojas said, was thoroughly evaluated, scheduling will start on March 1 with water piped into the west coast at 2:00am until 9:00am.

The central district will be served from 9:00am until 4:00pm,while the city’s eastern district gets its chance at 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

Water outflow will cease at 11:00 pm until 2:00 am to allow water build up in the district’s filtration tanks to prepare for the next day’s deliveries.

Earlier, Sound Snipings was wondering silently as to what result had the cloud seeding operations brought to the city. And it became when Rojas expressed hopes that their current cloud seeding operations would yield positive results soon. So, no results have yet been reached.

And based on PAGASA projections, rains are forecast to arrive June or July yet.

The police, though on small scales, continue to gain headway in their anti-illegal drugs campaign, as three more persons were arrested during a buy-bust operation inside a motel in Canelar last week.

Nabbed were Nelson Libe y Pamillaga, Jr. alias Vin, 27, single, of Gov. Camins, Melborn Fernando y Gamores, 33, single and Warren Van Famel Fernando, 24, single both of Calarian.

According to the news item filed by Dan Toribio of  RMN Radio/DZT, the feat was achieved by men of the Police Station 4 in Culianan led by Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon in coordination with Police Station 11.

Culianan-based, yet operating in the city proper.

Impressive. That can only speak for the zealousness of an officer in Insp. Solon. He deserves praises in the highest form. More power, Sir. May your tribe increase.

TMT’s Ricardo Saludo, a faith healer goes to the defense of boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. His statement was actually addressed to His Holiness, but to SS it is applicable to all. “Before speaking one syllable, ... (One) should first get the full remarks, not just the bit excerpted by mass and social media.”

Here is the full text of Pacquiao’s narrative when asked about same-sex marriage, as lifted from a writer’s translation of a transcript from

“As Christian, same-sex marriage is forbidden. Woman was made for man; man was made for woman. This is just my view: It’s only common sense. Do you see male animals with male animals, or female with female? Animals are better, knowing how to recognize (gender). Now, if men are with men, or women with women, human beings are worse than animals, isn’t it? A man really cannot marry another man.

“But I’m not condemning them (homosexuals). Just (same-sex) marriage .Committing (is) a sin  against God. But if two of the same sex love each other, there’s no problem there. What’s important is being good people and just living a simple life. But just don’t get married. They just show they love each other. It’s enough to live together, but for people of the same sex to marry, that shouldn’t be, because that’s against the law of God.”

Resultant of the world-wide rage over the “excerpts” pieced together by mass and social media, Pacquiao posted an apology on his Facebook account: “I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt. I still stand on my belief that I’m against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I’m not condemning LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and trans-genders). I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I’m praying for you.”

SS is not saying he either agrees or disagrees with Pacquiao, we just saw good reasons for printing the full text of his avowal for you, the readers, to to be the better judges.
