LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…`Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go’…” (Joshua 1:9, the Holy Bible).

DEPED’S OBJECTIVE: DEMONIZE THE MARCOSES: A press statement from the Department of Education dated March 03, 2016 clarified that Grades 5 and 6 students public elementary schools in the Philippines will also be taught about the martial law period during the time of President Marcos, and its impact on the lives of Filipinos today.

Whether DepEd admits it or not, its cloear objective here is to perpetrate the demonization of Marcos and the martial law regime and not really to provide a fair assessment of this period in our country’s history, all pursuant to the grand design of the Aquino family and its cabal of relatives and favored allies.

What the Aquinos really wanted here is to permanently decapitate the Marcoses politically, and disable the clan from the Ilocos and Leyte-Samar regions from regaining political power, particularly the power of a president sitting in Malacanang. It is political vendetta and machination at its worst, nothing more, nothing less.

WE SHOULD STOP THE DIVISION OF OUR PEOPLE: Again, people reading this should not take me wrong: I am not condoning any graft and corruption, or any criminal act, that the Marcoses may have committed during their time. Again, I reiterate: if any crime on the part of the Marcoses will be proved in our courts of law under existing judicial procedures, let them be held liable for each of them.

As a matter of fact, this was what the 1986 EDSA regimes had been doing, rather unsuccessfully, if you ask me, for almost 30 years now—prosecuting the Marcoses to make them accountable for their supposed misdeeds and recover their alleged ill-gotten wealth.

But then, let us not allow anymore the continuing and unrelenting anger by, or on the part of, the Marcoses’ political enemies—which are the Aquino family and their cohorts and yellow allies—to prevent a healing of our country’s political system and thereby continue the deep polarization and division of Filipinos.

WHAT DEPED SHOULD BE TEACHING THE YOUTH: What the DepEd should instead be focusing on, in the subjects being taught to our elementary school children across the country, is the strengthening of moral and spiritual values that allows the Filipino youth of today to love God with all their hearts, minds, souls and spirits, and to love others as they love themselves.

Yes, teach our children history and about martial law, about reading, writing, and arithmetic, but we should also bring back their subject on good manners and right conduct, and even their subject on religion anchored on their respective faiths. If we do this now, we will be producing a citizenry who fears and love God and who would not, therefore, cheat, steal, and lie.

From the time these subjects were taken away from our children, many of them became wayward and outrightly criminal and devilish, which became worse after then Sen. Francis Pangilinan authored a law that exempted children from arrests and any criminal liability. With the present system in place in the education of Filipino children, they are no longer the hope of our fatherland. They have become the curse of everyone!
