LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first…” (1 Thessalonians 4:16, the Holy Bible).

ASSURANCES ON MAN’S FINAL DESTINATION: This column today concerns the gruesome fact of death of a loved one, like the death of my 83-year old father, Mr. Melanio Pauco Mauricio Sr., on March 22, 2016. To many, death is final, and there is no more hope of seeing the relative who has gone to the great beyond again. That is why there is so much grieving when someone passes away.

But, nothing is farther from the truth, when one is a believer whose faith in God is totally and strongly anchored on His Word, the Bible. A true believer who receives his “daily bread” from the Bible is not prone to grieving because of the many assurances from the Word of God that death is not the final destination of any person.

In His great love and mercy, God already told us before that those who died in Christ—those who accepted and who have faith in Him as their God and Savior, like what my father had done during the five years that he battled stroke and its debilitating effects—will surely live again, in full happiness and blessedness in the presence of God in Paradise.

GETTING HOLD OF BIBLICAL PROMISES ON PARADISE: With this firm assurance which is spread out from the Old and the New Testaments of the Bible, there is really no need to grieve and to be weary. Rather, we must strive to get hold of the hope that is promised to every true believer, by knowing what the Bible is saying about these matters.

Let us start off with Ezekiel 37, where we are shown the power of God to bring back to life those who have died and whose remains now constitute merely of dried bones and dust. Here is what is stated in that chapter: “The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.

“He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, `Son of man, can these bones live?’ I said, `Sovereign Lord, you alone know.’ Then he said to me, `Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!

DYING IN JESUS: “ `This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’

Jesus, our God and Savior, gave this assurance to those who believe in Him: “Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life… I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world’…”

In 1 Thessalonians 4, we see the same assurance: “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him…” Therefore, believe Jesus, and live in Paradise.
