Sound Snipings

BY Jimmy Cabato

Sorry for the missing Sound Snipings (SS) pieces these days, folks. Sorties with Council aspirant-son have been so hectic that there was nary a moment spared to pound on the keyboard.

And today’s re-emergence is no spared moment. It is by some sort of “force majeur”. The open vintage jeep of the late Antolin “Tony” Go, SS’s “balae” (The Zamboangueño term for relationship due to affinity of a child), reliably serving SS the past several days caught up with age. The clutch cable of the antiquated service vehicle gave in and snapped. So, its replacement gave some time for SS to grind. Hence, this.

Going into final stretch of the campaign period, one thing gladdens SS. It’s the silence of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that it cannot reactivate the safety features of the VCMs, the renewed baptismal name of the killing machine - PCOS.

Likewise, reliable private election watch dogs have been silent on their rantings of VCM cheating.

Hopefully, that could very well mean, the playing field of the May 9 elections is now level. Again, hope to God.

One other joyful point, Cong. Celso L. Lobregat shows no fear of Mayor Isabelle C. Salazar, believed conduit to Comelec via links to Malacañang.

That fearlessness is evidently shown by the way Lobregat munches Salazar in every rally and pulong pulong daily.

With that, SS is confident, cheating, God willing, the demonic PCOS has been effectively controlled. Otherwise, Lobregat will taper off in his virulent criticisms of Salazar due to Salazar’s connections. (More on that after this item)

In view thereof, and of SS’ daily active involvement in the campaign, SS asseses that given a truly level playing field, son Jaime “Boday” is a sure-ball winner on May 9. Praise God.

For how on earth can SS ever be wrong, when wherever we go, the bonding of Boday among voters is so heart-warming, much much welcomed. Enthusiasm of people in meeting him is highly noted. The warmth is felt to the bones. Eagerness and zest are displayed in wholehearted openness.

No lang ole man Hocus Pcos, Dios quiera. (If only there will be no Hocus Pocus - cheating, God willing), Boday is the next Councilor Cabato.

I bet my bottom peso on that.

The local LP team’s allegations that its political rival team is branding their candidates as anti-development was affirmatively countered by District 1 Congressional Representative Celso Lobregat, as he defends his entire slate and fellow aspirants in the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP), Nacionalista Party (NP) and Adelante Zamboanga Party (AZAP) coalition or popularly known as “Team Colorao”.

Lobregat contended that contrary to what their opponents claim that his team is dishing out some propaganda in order to discredit the present local administration of Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar, what they are presenting to the people are the real and truthful issues in the city today.

“We are not creating these issues. These are real, it’s happening and we have the documents to prove it. Hende boca-boca lang, con ebidensya este mga asunto del ciudad,” (This is not by mouth only, all these are evidenced by documnents, Lobregat said.

“The truth is out there and so are those lies of the mayor on the issues on Masepla contract extension. The controversial nine projects and other investigations which are denied by her and that’s why it is important for the public to know the truth about these issues. That’s why we are presenting it,” Lobregat stressd.

The solon has on hand substantial documents on the controversial Memorandum of Agreement on the construction of additional temporary shelters in Masepla, as well as the contracts of the nine projects already signed by the mayor, without yet the authority of the city council, which were then referred to the Committee on Infrastructure.

Lobregat said that telling the truth to the public with substantial evidences is not propaganda, and they are just answering the criticisms of their opponents who branded them as “Team Sangga-Sangga” and “saboteurs”.

“How can the facts be a propaganda. Ta contesta lang kame el mga alegasyon diila contra coneste grupo, cosa-cosa sila ta abla mintira, ara ta abla kame el verdad con bastante ebidensya, ta rabya sila,”(We are werely answering their allegations against our group, they peddle lies, while we voice the truth with more than enough proofs,, now they are angered.), Lobregat said.

“The Mayor and Vice-Mayor came from our group, they know the track record of their former colleagues. they can’t deny that fact, and now that they have separated from us and joined our detractors. They now branded their former group as enemies and saboteurs,” Lobregat said.

Lobregat said that “Team Colorao” still maintains politics with integrity and he will never abandon it.

He clarified that it was Climaco and Ituralde who left their group, Lobregat emphasized.

“… it was Climaco and Iturralde who left their group.” That is one of the points that Lobregat emphasizes with video clips in each rally in the evenings.

And of that, Lobregat uses a famous saying quoted of National Hero Jose Rizal, “Ang sino hindi marunong lumingon sa kanyang pinanggalingan, ay hindi makakarating sa kanyang paruroonan. (He who does know how to look back from whence he came, will not reach his place of destination.”

As a genious, Rizal speaks so deep, don’t you think?

The first time SS wrote on that, we came up with a brief phrase – Absence of a sense of gratitude.

Feedbacks received say the phrase is still a little vague. That there must be a word or two that would describe that Rizal quote.

SS now calls on readers to text me for single word or another phrase for that Rizal saying – You may text SS at 0975 717 09173 or via fb or pm on messenger.

A little more on this tomorrow, should time permit.
