LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed…” (Proverbs 103:6, the Holy Bible).

GOD KNOWS WHO KILLED MY BROTHER: So, after burying my brother, Bgy. Capt. Ariel Lazo Mauricio, of Poblacion Center, Ramos, Tarlac, last Saturday, June 18, 2016, what can I say, in the face of the crushing grief and sorrow that I am feeling in my heart?

This is what I will say: I am leaving everything to God, particularly the determination, unmasking, and punishment, of his assassins and the masterminds of his ambush-slaying, which took place on June 14, 2016, in Paniqui,Tarlac.

I do not know who the assassins and the masterminds were, as is usual in the case of murders using the “riding-in-tandem” technique. I do not have evidence to say that the threats Ariel received in torrent before he was killed came from this or that person or group. But, certainly, God knows everything, and I know that in His justness, the killers are to be punished twice—while they are here on earth, and in their eternal lives!

PEACE OF HEART IN THE FACE OF GREAT TRAGEDY: I am thankful to Jesus, my God and Savior, that when the killing of my brother took place, I am already trying my best to become a worker of God, preaching that Jesus is God and Savior, and that the only way to salvation, both here on earth and in Paradise, is believing in Him as God and Savior.

Because of this grace of God for me which saw the establishment of the Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo (Children of God Blood Kin of the Christ) Church in the Philippines in fulfillment of Biblical prophecies, the news of his ambush, though totally shocking and grim, was received by my heart with surprising peace.

Instead of hate, Biblical verses which assure of God’s comfort came flooding through my entire being, particularly those which say that those who have received Jesus as God and Savior, like Ariel, will live again with Him though their physical bodies may have died, and that those who murder their fellow human beings will burn in hell and would be eaten by worms forever!

ARIEL ASSURED OF PARADISE FOR ACCEPTING JESUS: Ariel, of course, lived a controversial and earthly life, and this is an understatement. His tough ways were well-known to us, his family, to his constituents, to his fellow officials in Ramos, Tarlac, and, obviously, even to the deadly enemies he generated in the discharge of his duties and responsibilities as barangay head.

His solid anti-illegal drugs stance in his barangay, and in the whole town of Ramos, highlighted by his having maneuvered for the arrest of a known drug user/dealer, is likewise known to everyone. I was told that the drug user/dealer later met Ariel and they talked about many things, which prompted Ariel to voice out, in the presence of his officials, that if he was killed, there would be no doubt who murdered him.

In the midst of all these, however, I am glad and thankful to Jesus, our God and Savior, that Ariel, upon the leading of the Holy Spirit, accepted, in my presence, Jesus as his God and Savior. With that, according to the Bible, Ariel is assured of forgiveness and of his slot in Paradise. Which is something that his killers failed to take away from him!
