Sound Snipes

BY Jimmy Cabato

The story of a Baliwasan tanod reported nabbed in a buy-bust operation does not alarm my two kids, former Barangay Chairman and now City Councilor Boday, as well as successor Chair Aimie.

Subject person was up for dismissal much earlier. It so only happened, lawmen jumped the gun on them, beating them to the draw.

But be it known, a dismissal order against the guy was already on the table of Chair Aimie. They were only awaiting confirmation on the guy’s drug test, to prove him positive of indulging in illegal drugs.

If you recall, it was written here very recently that prior to Boday’s assumption to his new position, he conducted a surprise drug testing of all barangay tanods right in the barangay hall. The private lab tech who conducted the test, then confided that he suspected signs of drug intake on the now-arrested individual. But there was no official finding yet at that time.. Thus, the delay in the issuance of the termination paper that was ready for signing. In fairness to all, they only wanted to be sure.

As a matter of fact, subject person just came off from months of suspension under Boday, when reports came in, he was into drug pushing.

And when under suspension, he was reported to have reformed. With that, the suspension order was revoked. But this time he was set for dismissal awaiting official word from the private drug testing laboratory.

Repeat — It so only happened, lawmen jumped the gun on them, beating them to the draw.

More details on this angle later after sitting down with the former and incumbent barangay chieftains.

Meantime, let it also be known, upon learning of the tanod’s arrest, Amie sped off to the Police Station to know more of the story. There she told him that she will confer with the concerned police operatives and investigators to know the ins and outs of the arrest. That if he is confirmed to have been drug pushing, she will never lift a finger to help him.

Writing Sniper (WS) will be pounding on this piece today as hastily but as craftily as should be the case. Have to catch up with the two,  Boday and Aimie in their rounds of Muslim friends. Today is one of the most important Islamic observances, Eid’l Fitri.

Happy Hariraya to the Muslim faithful.

The cat is out of the bag. Without batting an eye, Pres. Digong Duterte spat out the names of the Police Generals, who he said are drug lord coddlers, immediately sacking the active ones from their posts.

So serious an act and revelation as they are, he would not have done it if he is not convinced of their misdemeanors.

He identified the officers as former National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Joel Pagdilao, Western Visayas regional director Chief Supt. Bernardo Diaz and Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Edgardo Tinio.

Relative to that, TMT’s Rigoberto Tigalo raised certain curious questions.

With coddlers unmasked, “… who are these drug lords? If Duterte could bravely name these generals, surely he could also name the drug lords.”

True enough, yes. Where are they?

Tiglao also came with other nosy observations about the killings of alleged drug lords. He cites very strange photos and video clips of such killings where of  those killed, a few of even had cardboard signs placed on their famished-looking bodies labeling them as drug lords. Strange, he said, they were wearing worn-out rubber slippers and basketball shorts typical of the urban poor’s clothes.

Stranger even, he snooped, the raids were mostly conducted down dirty and dark slum alleys. No report of such raids done in Alabang subdivisions, or other upper and middle-class villages, not even in class B condos.

He mused, the illegal drugs trade now looks to be limited to the poor.

Likewise, it was reported that an alleged P900-million worth of shabu was recovered from a resort in Cagayan province. He spied, “But where were the drug lords who manufactured or smuggled these?”

Then Tiglao did a snipe of his own, “… more likely, is Duterte’s anti-drug campaign hitting only small-time, neighborhood drug pushers?”

Truly snoopy curiosities.

Would Bongbong Marcos have a China man’s chance in his protest against Vice President Leni Robredo?

WS poses that question born  out of certain observations. It has been  splattered all over that Robredo was made to win so that ex-Pres. BS Aquino will have a protector against possible cases he is bound to face. And Marcos’ protest case, has been raffled off to SC Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.

Now, who is Caguioa?

Caguioa is an appointee of Aquino in the SC and several other previous posts.

Get a load of this. Caguioa and former president Benigno Aquino 3rd were classmates from elementary school to college at the Ateneo de Manila University Law School.

Just imagine their closeness.

There’s some more. Before his appointment to the SC last January 22, 2016, Caguioa had been a law practitioner and became Aquino’s Chief Presidential Legal Counsel and then Justice Secretary.

Need we say more?

God help Bongbong
