KAKAMPI MO ANG BATAS

BY Atty. BATAS MAURICIO

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… `I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it’…” (Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in Matthew 16:18, the Holy Bible).

TERROR ATTACKS YIELD NO BENEFIT FOR MASTERMINDS: Here’s a word to peoples and organizations bent on showing their bravery, superiority, guts, hatred, or any other negative emotion on others by killing their fellow men, like the recent deadly attacks in France and elsewhere: after the killings, what?

Life goes on, and, except for sporadic investigations and maybe arrests and counter-killings, little, or even absolutely nothing, is remembered of the deaths, terror, and mayhem that you caused. Nothing is even remembered of who you are or what you have been fighting for. So how will that be of some value to you?

It would certainly be a lot better for this world, and for the people or countries against whom you have directed your terror attacks, if more intellectually stimulating or creative efforts are employed by you in your crusade or battle for your ideas and your dreams As it were, your killing others only managed to prove one thing: you are a pathetic failure, because you have not really moved the world to like, or side with, you!

PARENTAL AUTHORITY, WHAT IS IT? Today, we start a weeklong discussion on parental authority as the Family Code of the Philippines provides under its Articles 209-233. This is prompted by a seminar my wife, Judge Angelina Mauricio, is giving to teachers and personnel of the Liberato Damian Elementary School in Pasig City under Principal Thelma Lattao.

The seminar is being pursued by my wife, who is the current All Star President of the Rotary Club of Intramuros, Manila, District 3810 of Rotary International, according to the directives of District 3810 Governor Ernest Yuyek. The seminar focuses on special parental authority of school administrators and teachers over their students, as part of Rotary’s peace and conflict resolution initiatives.

We start by defining “parental authority”, and then discuss during the week its other ramifications under the law. “Parental authority” is the “natural right and duty of parents over the person and property of their un-emancipated children, which includes rearing and caring for them.” More to follow next issue, God willing.

THE CHURCH OF JESUS IN THE PHILIPPINES: Why is the Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo (or AND KNK, the Children of God Blood Kin of the Christ) Church saying that it is the Church of Jesus in the Far East, or, more specifically, in the Philippines? This is because of Biblical inspiration that says so, starting with the declaration of Jesus, our God and Savior, that He is putting up His own Church, which is found in Matthew 16:18.

The Church  that Jesus said He is putting up is important because, by His own declaration, hell will not prevail against it—which means, in turn, that the members of that Church will not go to hell on the day of judgment. This is therefore the Church of salvation, where believers wanting to be saved in eternal life must become members of.

Now, where can we find this Church of Jesus? There is no indication at all in Matthew, or in ay other part of the New Testament of the Bible. This should prompt us to find the answer in other parts of the Bible. If we do this, we will see that there are Bible verses which point to the exact place where the Church of Jesus is going to be put up by Him. You want to know where? Please read our next issues.
