KAKAMPI MO ANG BATAS

BY Atty. BATAS MAURICIO

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… `I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God’…” (Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in Luke 12:8-9, the Holy Bible).

FB’S “CHALLENGE ACCEPTED”? HERE IS SOMETHING BETTER: Something strange happened with my Facebook account in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 27, 2016: it suddenly became inaccessible, as if my account is non-existent. I tried re-accessing it in my MacAir laptop, in my IPhone 6 Plus and Iphone 5 phone, but all I got were messages saying “Ooops something went wrong, we couldn’t load the page, we are trying to fix it as soon as we can”.

What did I do which sent my Facebook acting weirdly? Well, I posted in my timeline a challenge that somehow “rebuked” posts about Facebook netizens’s past pictures which appears to have become another social networking fad. Apparently, Facebook, or whoever maybe behind it, either did not like my “rebuke”, or got “burned” by my message, which shows what Facebook is really all about.

My message? I said: “Challenge accepted? And what was the challenge all about in the first place? Was it just to brag about photos of times long forgotten? Here is my own challenge: please post your pictures showing you praising, worshipping, thanking, and singing songs to Jesus, accepting Him as God and Savior. Here is one picture of mine doing just that…”

WHAT THE REAL CHALLENGE IS FOR BELIEVERS: The objective of my challenge was, of course, to create a bandwagon in Facebook and perhaps in other social networking sites where people, instead of posting inanities or things that do not really matter in their lives, would be posting pictures and messages upholding their faith in Jesus as God and Savior.

I was sure many Facebook netizens would be accepting this challenge of mine, because I am sure that, like me, many others are believers of Jesus as God and Savior. I was sure likewise that the time has come for believers, in a world of godlessness, to be upholding their faith in Jesus, and thereby accept the benefits of doing that—a life more blessed financially, materially, intellectually, and spiritually, as well as a life assured of eternal bliss.

So, the challenge is hurled. The believers out there who would be able to read the English and Filipino versions of this column and who have accounts in Facebook or other social networking sites are urged to take your pictures praising, worshipping, thanking, and singing hymns to Jesus as God and Savior, and then immediately upload them. Let us see who among us would have the courage to do this.

ARE YOU DOING YOUR PART AS A BELIEVER NOW? To those who believe, we must not forget that Jesus told His disciples that whoever acknowledges Him publicly before other people will also be acknowledged by Him in heaven. This means that it is the duty of His disciples and of His present-day believers to confess among themselves and before the world that Jesus is God and Savior.

If we look at it more closely, this statement of Jesus tends to show that eternal life in Paradise is premised on acceptance of Him as God and Savior and the publication of that acceptance in all the world—in our own households, communities, towns and cities, and everywhere we may find ourselves to be.

It means every believer of Jesus as God and Savior has a duty to go out in the world and then preach that He is God and Savior, baptize everyone in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, which Name is Jesus, and to teach all the people about what He has commanded us to do. Are you, dear reader, doing this now after you have professed Jesus as God and Savior?
