“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Josh. 24:15, ESV)

Anyone who gives his life to the Lord has the assurance of guidance and protection. We live in a world where daily onslaughts happen everywhere. And the surprising thing is, not too many of us are aware of them. After all, temptations we collide every day are pretty subtle to any ordinary eyes, which many cannot just easily resist.

A youth one day was very happy to bring his younger sister in our church. The girl was only a high school freshman. She was excited too and became very committed in her new-found faith. The girl is gifted with beauty. She looked similar to a particular actress, and in fact she had been a constant crush to many boys. But their father wasn’t happy. He scolded the son and warned the daughter to stop attending the church.

The former’s reason was that the church could be a sure distraction to her daughter’s focus, to her studies. So the girl stopped to attend our church. Everyone wasn’t ready for the dire consequences ahead. The girl ended-up with the wrong crowd, due probably to peer pressures. She’d gotten involved to different boys sexually, when she was yet in high school. Had several pregnancies and resorted even to a number of abortions.

One day, she ran away to elope with a married man. She didn’t finish college and partly was also hooked to vices. The father regretted so much why she stopped her daughter to follow the Lord. Things could have been better if he gave his daughter the chance to serve God. His act to turn down God was a wrong decision.

Now, he has another daughter who also started to join our church. The father at this time showed a better attitude. He personally drove the second daughter every church schedule. The father learnt though his lesson, the hard way. Friend, never say NO to God. Give Him your life, and even dedicate your family to serve Him.

Why is that regret always comes at the last, that if we only can know earlier, or that we can even turn time back, we may not fail in the process! Do you also feel the same, on some times? Well, I pretty know that such is also a common wish to many people, to undo wrong decisions of their lives. We live in a broken world, thus we inevitably hurt.

Nonetheless, amidst any darkness, God cannot leave us helpless. He instead places some fortress, where we can run to hide ourselves—in our despair moments. He also sends messengers to touch our lives, like He gives us preachers of hope, as to help us lead in our ways and decisions. There is also the Holy Bible, it is a source of hope.

Beloved, your life today could be a complete mess, but sure it ain’t yet your fatal dead-end. God can heal you! I believe with all of my heart that this article is an instrument where God is now speaking to you. It’s not yet too late. Try God. Give your life to Him. If you will allow Him to work in your mess, He can heal and restore you.

This what you will do. Come to Him in humility. You repent and give your life to Him. Repentance is simply meaning to confess your sins before the Lord, and to acknowledge to Him your inabilities. Do not hesitate to come to God. This can be your new fresh start. Remember, there is no extreme problem which God cannot fix. God is the answer! He is only a whisper away. Come to Him now.
