TODAY’S MANNA

BY Berlie G. Yap

“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”(John 20:23, ESV)

Today, we will continue to discuss the subject of inner healing. I left you yesterday by defining inner healing, as the needed wholeness in our souls. In the Bible, the heart and the mind mean only one thing, it is the human soul. So that, when one’s soul is wounded, unlike to any physical bruises which can soon be healed, it may stay to fester even way onto his grave. It has to be dealt with, through the power of God.

The first step to an inner healing is the willingness of the person. One cannot receive any healing of his soul, unless he is personally willing. Submission to the power of God is extremely crucial in our wholeness. In the gospel, the Lord Jesus said that one can’t give his pearls to the dogs.

Dogs do not know how to appreciate precious stones. All dogs want are to be able to bark. “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” (Matt. 7:6, KJV) Albeit, valuables are reserved or given to those who know how to appreciate them, but never to the unwilling. Now, we will go the next.

The second step—the willingness to FORGIVE. Aggravation can’t help our inner hurts. In fact, it can turn its state even to a worse one. Do you know that the sin of murder is not just the very act? The Lord said that it is committed when we harbor hatred to our equals. “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” (1 John 3:15, ESV)

In any abuse, the antidote is not revenge, but FORGIVENESS. Bitterness candestroyone’s personality. It can make us easily numbed, so that we can’t anymore feel any immediate affection.A calloused skin does not feel. Do you know that anyheart can be calloused also because of un-forgiveness?Un-forgiveness when it develops, it becomes a hatred. Now its ultimate state is bitterness.

“See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “ROOT OF BITTERNESS” springs up and causes trouble, and by it MANY BECOME DEFILED.” (Heb. 12:15, ESV) Even those who are not involved in the processmay even suffer allthe unnecessary consequences, like the children of the subject person. Forgiveness is a cure which can heal our inner hurts and can permeate limitless blessings to our lives, which shall include our coming posterity.

Third, the willingness TO LET GO AND START ANEW. Living in the past is like a large ship whose engine has already its propulsions but can’t sail because it is tied to a berth. A tied life to the past is pretty dangerous. It can evolve the person to be a destructive monster.Adolph Hitler hated the Jews because of his past.

He was an orphan and grew up in poverty. His hatred to the Jews grew-up with him inside his heart, so that when he got the chance and power, he almost annihilated the Jewish race in Europe. It is history, he killed 6 million Jews all overEurope. His acts were demonic andit was unequalled.

Letting go of your pasts can welcome you to a fresh start. Thus,it is imperative to untie yourself from any hurt, so that you can focus onto your future. They could be a little painful though, but we got no choice—that if we want to be made whole. After all, it is not worth it to suffer perpetually, and God is then actually offering us a better life. The Lord said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”(Matt. 11:28, ESV)

Any abuse can be very deep, but there is no much pain which God cannot heal. Thus, let it go my friend. Give yourself the best favor. Sometimes, we don’t see what’s right in front of us, because we keep to look at what is behind us. If such is your situation, turn around and look in front of you.Focus on your future and not on your past. “He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.” (Eccles. 11:4, ESV)
