“With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day: ‘Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.’ Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.” (Isa. 12:3-5, ESV)

Yesterday, I shared a bit about the undeniable influence which the band Beatles has to a number of our renowned present world leaders; well, such happened during their early youth days, of the ‘60’s and the ‘70’s. Admittedly, music is indeed very powerful. Beatle’s songs partly made countless of our dads and moms today. Do you know that even in the issue of identity crisis, music can be a good therapy?

In a national level, a country is sure fostered to a real patriotism through songs—like any national anthem. I remember, former City Mayor Celso L. Lobregat signed an Executive Order, enjoining all public offices and schools in the City, to regularly render the song Zamboanga Hermosa, each time after the Lupang Hinirang, every Monday.

Such song is still sang every Monday all over. Candidly, it creates a true sense of pride to every Zamboangueños. Loyalty is the content of the song. Manny Pacquiao is not an actual singer, but he also sings. How many of us like his songs? Anyways, for example Para Sa Iyo bonded the Filipino people, both in overseas and here domestic, for countless of times. It is a fact, music heals! Thus, find yours and never afford to live without a beauty in life.

In our church, we also have our own band, or worship team. They call themselves as the Earthen Vessel band. They are mostly youths, who has different life stories and testimonies. In fact, most of them had broken lives but did receive restoration when they committed their hearts to God. Now, they too are reaching other kids who are in similar dilemmas of life. Thank God, they as well have become healers and restorers.

We use music to restore and to build others. We popularize songs to inspire friendship, loyalty, commitment, courtesy, the fear of the Lord, industry, and etc. These kids do have their separate church service. They gather every Saturday at 3-4PM. You can come and join; we don’t mind if you wear earrings or you’ve long hairs. Ours is a cool place. We play a live band and wholesome songs. It’s a promise, you’ll not feel an outsider when you step-in, to our place. Text the number below.

Songs can also be perverted. Many songs nowadays are even obviously self-destructive. They convey messages of promiscuity, rebellion and drugs. There are also which are satanic in nature. Accordingly, bands which want an absolute and drastic fame, do sell their souls to Satan in exchange for prestige. Thus, their music become an overnight hit, but the reality they also have certain evil influences to the hearers.

Did you hear about back masking? Such, when discovered, shocked the entire world. Some songs when they are played reverse, they convey different messages. They usually have lines, in back masking, which encourage listeners to immorality, crime and etc. No wonder, these particular songs easily destroy our youths, because they induce an actual depravity to the subconscious being of the listeners.

There are songs which also deliver a kind of “double-meaning” lyrics. It is now an IN something when songs are pretty evil and blasphemous, but corny when it is wholesome! Definitely, something is wrong to the taste of the people nowadays. By all means, we need clean music and clean or wholesome songs.

I suggest, when you choose songs, check first its lyrics. Avoid any dirty or unclean songs, because it can pollute your soul, and may later affect your own personality. Do you know that if you love songs with rebellious messages, in no time you also can turn to be rebellious! And if messages are with lusts, drugs or open perversion, relative results may transform you also to such in the end. Thus, check always the lyrics of your personal choices.

I’ll just show you part of the lyrics of the song The Warrior Is A Child. It says—Lately I’ve been winning battles left and right, but even winners can get wounded in the fight,  people say that I’m amazing, I’m strong beyond my years, but they don’t see inside of me, I’m hiding all the tears. They don’t know that I come running home when I fall down, they don’t know who picks me up when no one is around, I drop my sword and cry for just a while,  ‘coz deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child.

Nice! Ain’t it? I personally glean my song choices. Such is my attitude, simply because anything which goes to my subconscious being can influence me absolutely. Thus, I ought to be careful. God says, “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Prov. 4:23, ESV)
