Is PNP already cleansed for new “tokhang”? PDF Print E-mail

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth…” (1 John 3:18, the Holy Bible).

HAS THE PNP BEEN CLEANSED SO POLICEMEN COULD RESUME “TOKHANG”? Oh yeah, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa of the Philippine National Police (PNP), “oplan tokhang” or any other campaign against illegal drugs in the country has to be returned now, particularly because all Filipinos know that drug lords, drug pushers, drug syndicates, and drug addicts are once again lording it over almost everywhere in the country.

But, didn’t President Duterte order before that this campaign had to be carried out solely by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) with the participation of some special units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines? Do you mean to say, with your uniform call for “tokhang” to be returned to the police, that PDEA also failed in fighting illegal drugs?

And, perhaps, you should really endeavor to make a clarification, Alan and Bato: have the police been cleansed from the criminal, corrupt, greedy and immoral among its ranks, who were the very reason why Digong had to take away his campaign against illegal drugs from the PNP? Have the police changed since the time the President bitterly denounced them after the murder of South Korean Jee Ick Joo?

INUTILE GOV’T IN THE FACE OF TRANSPORT STRIKES: If we will only look more carefully into the transport strike that some groups of jeepney operators and drivers carried out on February 27, 2017 and the first one they staged several Mondays ago, I am sure we will not fail to feel sorry for our people who are truly the victims who are prejudiced with these juvenile outbursts of drivers and operators.

The fact is, the world literally comes to a halt. For students, because their classes are suspended for one whole day; for workers in the private and government sectors, because of their inability or failure to report for work and, if ever they manage to arrive at all in their offices in the morning, going home becomes some kind of a “mission impossible”; and for all citizens who are forced to travel for one reason or another, because they often have to endure long traffic hours.

Then, it is clear that the government, particularly the agencies which have something to do with public utility vehicles and their drivers, is unable to do anything in anyway, since it is unable to impose appropriate and reasonable penalties fully authorized by law in the first place.

REASON WHY NOYNOY AND LENI DID NOT GIVE SPEECHES DURING THE 31ST EDSA: I received a report in the afternoon of Saturday, February 25, 2017, that explained why Vice President Leni Robredo and former President Aquino decided not to give any speeches anymore during the 31st commemoration of the EDSA 1 power grab: the small number of supports dissuaded them from appearing on stage.

According to my source, both Noynoy and Leni were shocked to see that, literally, only a handful joined the commemoration at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City, even if many allied organizations were required to send delegations. Compared to the number of those who went to the pro-Duterte rally at the Luneta in Manila also on that day, the EDSA 1 celebrations looked like it was literally gasping for breath.

Because of this, Noynoy and Leni were reported to have immediately notified the organizers that they were no longer disposed to delivering any talk. Instead, they agreed to be “ambushed” by reporters at the foot of the stage. The question among people that day: if there were only few supporters who showed up last Saturday, where did Leni and the senators of the Liberal Party get their votes during the May 2016 elections?
