TODAY’S MANNA

BY Berlie G. Yap

“Even though I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”(Ps. 23:4, ESV)

Valleys are the low moments in our lives; it can also be certain challenges, which we ought to face squarely and not to run away from! As I writing this article, we just finished our IPL final exam an hour ago. Our professor deliberately employed it on a Sunday, because according to him, he wanted us to already feelthe realatmosphere of the BAR exam.

We had to take extended night studiesseriously, for the subject, because the following scenario of not making it shall be to face the removal exam.I personally waded three nights—to burn brows, in literally consuming the Salao book, in IPL. The actual time of our exam was 4 hours, we started at 8AM and had to finish it at 12. A number finished though earlier at 11AM, I also did finish at 11AM. Pretty timely though to run and catch my 12NN-2PM inspirational program, of music and sharing, in Brangay eMedia.

Such was a valley for me. But the best in the promise of God, in Psalm 23, is that we cannot fear any evil, because He shall be with us. Another bonus, His rod and staff will also comfort us, along. God is invisible, but that doesn’t mean that He is not real. God is true, and He is tangible. So that in any challenge or hardship, we may go through, we only will have to rely to Him, and He will help us along.

What is the literal meaning of the rod and staff? Both speak to the Word of God, or His promises to us. The Bible is a constant source which we can draw daily counsel and comfort. It is a guarantee that we live in a world of hostility. We can bruise anytime. Albeit, the Father’s words are enough healing to sooth our souls always.

We are born to be dependent to something or someone who is bigger and stronger. Don’t doubt anymore, that same bigger and stronger Person is God. In our weaknesses, we always can run to coddle in His powerful arms. People may not understand you all the time, but God does. In fact, He knows your entire being, from the crown of your head down to the soles of your feet.

We cannot hide anything, even a single speck, to the eyes of our Father. The Lord said that before we can start to pray, He already knows what are in our hearts, and that even before we can finish our prayer, He already have heard our petitions. All we need to do then is just to run to His presence. God will not leave us nor forsake us.

Men may turn their backs away from us, but God will not—not in the past, not now and never in the future. He is true to His Word. The Father cannot lie. He stands by always to His promises. God is a promise-keeper. Another thing, the best way to express your prayer to the Lord, is not to release your worries and fear. But toinstead, claim His written promises before Him.

This passage can be found in Is. 55:11, “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but IT SHALL ACCOMPLISH THAT WHICH I PURPOSE, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (ESV) When we claim His Word, in His presence, such will not come to Him without fulfilling its purpose.

Faith is the new lifestyle which we ought to develop every day. It takes faith to please God and to also overcome our challenges. “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (Heb. 11:6, ESV)

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:4, ESV) It won’t be a difficult thing to speak God’s Word in our ordinary struggles. In fact, it will even be harder to whine or blame others. Indeed, the word of blessings and healing are just on the tip of our lips. Choose the life of blessings. God has limitless graces which He readies for us every day.
