TODAY’S MANNA

BY Berlie G. Yap

“We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 10:3-4 ESV)

Two days ago, I asked my wife to buy me some cellophane bag, for seedling purposes, because I wanted to plant some garden seeds in our backyard. This is how it started—it just dawn on me one day, to utilize the manure of our domestic chickens. Thus, I planted melon, tomatoes and papaya seeds. Anytime within this week, I’m intending also to plant eggplant and other simple vegetables. My honest intention why I wish to grow such, is for personal consumption.

Organic gardening is something the trend of countless of notable homes nowadays, amongst big cities all over the world—if you know, like Singapore. Well as many would say, the very problem to grow your own garden is not the issue of space, but the simple determination and personal discipline which one can personally apply. Indeed, I was pretty excited when I soaked those seeds, so that I then did see in my abstract being their possible yield, after 3 months from now.

All truth is parallel; this natural law, which I’m sharing now, does also work the same in any plain. One of the most important daily aspects in our lives is on the area of finances. We ought to know how plant good seeds today, so that we can harvest limitless blessings in our tomorrow. Generosity is equivalent to planting of seeds in the kingdom of God.

When we help the needy and the poor, we something have soaked seeds in a good ground. Never be mistaken that it is the will of the Father to bless our lives. Believe so, because such is the Lord’s irreducible truth. Jesus declared in John 10:10, “…I have come to give you life, and have it MORE ABUNDANTLY!” (KJV) It is God’s will for all of us to live in abundance.

Albeit, it is also equally true that God’s abundance doesn’t fall in our lap automatically. We should know how to plant our seeds as well. In Genesis, there was a famine in Canaan. Everybody was worried to a lot of things, but not Isaac. He was so secured to trust the Lord for his life and for his family.

Instead of inventing any artifices, Isaac broke the fallow grounds of his lot, then he planted crops. Three months later, he got a very plentiful harvests, so much so that his neighbors began to envy him. The patriarch Isaac had a different mindset than his neighbors. He walked with a “kingdom of God” mentality. How about his neighbors? They did in fear, worry, anxieties and in carnality! Thus, all they got were obvious failures!

Do you know about tithes and offering? Such are also few of the secrets of God’s blessings of prosperity. People who experienced breakthroughs in this wise can definitely testify that tithes and offering work! These form of giving is instituted by God Himself. In fact, the Father said that we can be cursed in our failures to giving our tithes and offering.

But on the other hand, in our obedience, God shall open the windows of heaven to pour us His blessings, so that there shall not be room enough to receive them! In any house, which are more doors or windows? Of course windows! In other words, God may cause many ways to bless us back if we are a tither and a generous giver—of our offerings.

These same finances are used by churches to help expand the influence of the Gospel, here on earth. It takes money to run a religious organization. Last year, the Billy Graham Ministry sent hundreds of tons of shoeboxes in the Philippines, and Zamboanga City was one of the dozens of beneficiary cities in Mindanao. Our congregation did also help its distribution.

Hundreds of Zamboangueno kids were blessed in those simple shoe boxes. But those said gifts were from American children and their parents, who generously give for the Filipino people. Nothing is free in this world, such also includes our salvation. Although we receive them free from God, but His only begotten Son paid them for in Calvary, by giving His own life for us.

Relatively, tithes and offerings are the lifeblood which do run any Christian organization. One thing more, when we give, let’s do them with a grateful heart. Do not attach some strings along, but accounting them every single centavo from your ministers. Of course every church has its own accounting system, but any ordinary parishioner should not bluff his leaders and church, as to petition his tithes and offerings’ breakdown. Give generously and not grudgingly.

On Sundays, please tune-in to e105.9 in the FM band, 12nn-2 PM. It is the Brangay eMedia’s offer to Zamboanga City inspirational songs and interesting sharing of the Word of God, on Sundays. I hope to have you weekly. For your comments and reactions, please text to 0936-526-8769, God bless you.
