TODAY’S MANNA

BY Berlie G. Yap

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a DOUBLE-MINDED MAN, UNSTABLE IN ALL HIS WAYS.” (Js. 1:6-8, ESV)

It takes consistency to reach a desired destiny. Think about it, what would happen to a driver who originally decided to travel to Ipil, but upon reaching Vitali, he changes his mind to instead head to Labuan, or while on his way again towards the City, changes again his plan to rather go to Dipolog! Funny ain’t it?

Are there how many people today, who are entangled or beset to a complexity of failures, and the very reason why they fell on such mud is because they constantly changed their minds? It is better to stay in a manner of total simplicity, but you are firm—your mind is set to a focus, or your plans are pegged towards a goal, than in the luxury of everything but you are also gullible! To the firm, determined and consistent—God promises to you limitless blessings and success.

The Lord’s words are inthis manner, “Jesus said to him, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”’ (Lk. 9:62, ESV) Thus, hold your plow tightly, and focus to what is ahead of you. Loss yourself to what is behind! Your more attention should be to what is before you. Others call this stage as burning your bridges, so that you cannot be distracted along in the journey.

Why maybe? Again, that you may not be able to change your mind, when the journey gets tough. Consistency is simply meantTO MAINTAINyour momentum, your drive or focus, your spirit and determination, and such also includes your unshaken decision to see through the journey, comes what any trial to fall along and try to discourage you.

Discouragement is a normal thing. Any human being can feel anytime personal down moments. It’s good sometimes to be grounded, simply because such can make you realize your limitations, thus it may lead you to a full surrender to the Lord. What is wrong though is when we remain to be discouraged for a period of time.

This is how we ought to do, every time we falter—get up right away, shake your dust, heal your wounds, and then continue the journey, that despite if you may limp along, because you bruised yourself. Life is very similar to any marathon. Although their clear distinction is, in life—so long as you may just continue the race, it will always be a sure guarantee that you can win, eventually!

Giving-up should be the last thing to come to our heads, when things do not go well in our lives. By the way, we will not always be on our UP MOMENTS. There will be some valleys along which we can also absolutely pass through in our personal developments, and vice versa. Now, in whatever level we may in, soak this in your soul—stay consistent!

God qualifies us first, before He can bless us, for one simple reason: so that we can be strong enough to take or carry the blessings. Often, blessings are too much to someone’s character. King Solomon fell in such area. His wisdom, influence and wealth were way too much for him, than to his godly character inside his heart. Thus, the allures of the world alienated him gradually away from the Lord.

Though, in the latter end of his life, by the grace of God, he repented and gave his life back to Jehovah. The book of Ecclesiastes is his life’s story. He lamented that he allowed worldly things to drown his heart. So he warned everyone, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: FEAR GOD, AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: FOR THIS IS THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN.” (Eccles. 12:13, ESV)

The entire duty of man is to fear, or literally meant, TO GLORIFY God in all of his endeavors. When we fulfill our dreams or reach our desired destinies, we glorify God! After all, it is always Him who planted such dreams and desires in our souls. Jesus’ words were, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Lk. 12:32, ESV)
