“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Heb. 1:6, NIV)

You tell me, is there anything which can replace positive attitude to overcome one’s circumstance? The answer is absolutely none! Such gift of inner determination is what the Bible calls faith. Faith is an inward strong attitude, where one believes that he can wade things, even in the presence of all the odds around, to the other side.

Jesus was with the twelve, when they crossed the lake. Probably, he was very tired, so that he succumbed to a sound sleep. Now, suddenly a squall threatened their small boat. In fact, waters did start already to get in to the vessel. Everyone panicked then, especially Peter, despite that he had been a fisherman since his childhood.

Albeit, the Master was only in a corner, undisturbed. He had that unexplainable peace, amidstthe eye of an impending catastrophe! But Peter could not contain his fear. Thus, he woke-up the Lord, and also complained why he didn’t care! He emphasized to Jesus that they were perishing. Do you sense Peter’s extreme fear? Often, we as well walk on such a relative desperation. But remember, God is only a whisper away!

The Lord woke-up then and replied to the twelve, not to fear. He pointed his finger to the elements and commanded, “PEACE BE STILL!” Unbelievably, the wind and the waves obeyed the Lord Jesus. “The disciples were amazed. ‘Who is this man?’ they asked. ‘Even the winds and waves obey him!’” (Matt. 8:27, ESV)

God wanted us to have such kind of confidence, that even before the very face of death, we remain to trust the Lord! Maybe, I was only a bit secular in my introduction above, because I used the line: positive attitude. Admittedly, faith is more than just being positive in all of your situations. It always involves reliance to the almighty.

God will not embarrass any person who relies to Him. “For the Scripture says, ‘everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”’ (Rom. 10:11, ESV) Are you not tired in trusting to people, money and things, then they just disappoint you! In fact, your disappointed might be countless already, that if you may count them. Try God though! You will never regret it, he won’t fail you. JESUS NEVER FAILS!

We live in such an unstable and unpredictable time. Basically, we do not know what is ahead of us. Thus, we only can prepare asmuch. I was in Manila, when the 2011 tsunami hit Japan. It affected worst certain coastal cities of the rising sun. It also claimed thousands of lives. Some did even remark that those who perished during the tsunami were more than those who died, in the cities of Osaka and Nagasaki, when the atomic bomb was dropped by the Americans against Japan.

Nobody did predict that such tragedy, in biblical proportion, would lame the mighty nation of Japan. Again, we do not know the future. It is a holy province, where only God can walk on it. It is the same realm where we need God the most. Please do not say that you do not need God. All of us need HIM.

The truth is: people may arrogantly declare that they can stand without God, but one day they shall beg the Creator to mercy them. The question is not a matter of IF but WHEN. God determined a judgment day—all flesh will stand before HIM. On that day, God-redeemer shall becomea JUDGE! Alas, to those who deny His existence; there shall be no escape.

To believe the Lord is easier than to try to do all of our best without Him. In trusting the Lord, you won’t loss anything. Notwithstanding, you will profit many! If God is with you, you will be a sure winner in life. “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” (Ps. 127, ESV)

Understand as well, faith in God is not a passive thing. Thus, if one has faith, his work will become easier then. Simply because God is with him—to help him every step of the way. Things which can be accomplished inasmuch as 100 years, may only be done in minutes! That if God is with you.

I cannot stop but to always remember Jesus’ challenge: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28-29, ESV) In the Lord, we can achieve a better life. Indeed, nothing in this world can equal to the goodness of the Father, God bless you.
