LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God...” (2 Corinthians 7:1, the Holy Bible).

GEN. BARTOLOME IS NEXT PNP CHIEF: It is now final: two-star Police General Nicanor Bartolome, currently the deputy director of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has already been chosen by President Aquino as the next PNP director general, to replace outgoing PNP Chief Raul Bacalzo, and that the police are now preparing for a Bartolome leadership.

Officials from Malacanang and from the PNP told me that Bartolome’s appointment as the country’s top policeman has already been signed. Our congratulations to General Bartolome, a fellow Tarlacqueno, and a member of Class 1980 of the Philippine Military Academy. I am sure PNP will be a better organization under him.

DENGUE STRIKES AGAIN IN RP: Once again, dengue is striking fear in the hearts of many Filipinos, considering the increasing number of those being killed and getting seriously sick because of it. From Laoag City in Ilocos Norte to Isabela City in Basilan Province, hospitals and clinics are being packed to the brim with people afflicted by the disease.

I appreciate the measures being undertaken by the authorities to combat dengue but, let me reiterate once again, all of these are puny reactions. This ailment will, God forbid, kill more and injure more, if we fail to realize, soon enough, that it is not due merely to dirty and unsafe surroundings, but is actually a curse from God.

BEST WAY TO FIGHT DENGUE: Proof that dengue is a curse from God can be found in Deuteronomy 28:15 and 22 of the Holy Bible. These verses talk about death and destruction arising from sicknesses which cause body temperatures to rise uncontrollably, all because people no longer listen to and obey the Word of God (in other words, no longer read and obey the Bible).

The best way therefore to fight dengue is not to kill the mosquitoes or clean our surroundings, because these humanly measures could help but very little, but to read the Bible, meditate on it day and night, and sincerely obey it. Then, we will overcome dengue and all other serious problems confronting our country and its people now.

RULES TO TRIUMPH OVER ENEMIES: There are many rules to achieve success against our enemies in our day-to-day living. Many of them are actually found in the Bible. Here are some of these rules, taken from Psalm 118:5-12: “…When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD; he brought me into a spacious place.

“The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.

“All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I cut them down. They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them down. They swarmed around me like bees, but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them down…” --Atty. BATAS MAURICIO
