LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” (Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in Matthew 16:26, the Holy Bible).

NO ONE IS PROTECTING FILIPINOS FROM FAKE PRODUCTS: So, what government agency is supposed to prevent the proliferation of fake rice, fake cabbage, fake eggs, and other fake foods and drinks, and even fake medicine, in the Philippines nowadays?

At the rate video footages of these fake products are being shown in social networking sites, particularly Facebook, it would seem no one is protecting Filipinos from the onslaught and deadly effects of these fake items. Particularly interesting here is the video of a Filipino male, wearing a black shirt and a blue shorts, regarding fake rice which bears markings that it is from Thailand.

Of course, Sen. Cynthia Villar and some other individuals are saying reports of these fake products are not true and are, well, fake likewise. But then, Villar and her racionations couldn’t be taken seriously since it is clear she has no capacity to make a nationwide assessment of this phenomenon.

SILENCE ON FAKE PRODUCTS IS GOLDEN FOR OFFICIALS IN GOV’T? What is frightening here is that the products that are being faked are those that Filipinos either eat or use everyday—rice and vegetables, for example. I am sure that consuming or using these fake items in just a few days will already have adverse effects on the health and well-being of our countrymen.

So, what can ordinary Filipinos do to avoid these fake products and the illness that they will surely bring? It is easy to say we should not buy them. Unfortunately, not many of us have the capacity to distinguish what is fake and what is genuine.

What could even be worse here is the fact that there could be some government officials and employees who are abetting or simply allowing these fake products to flood our markets, for one reason or another. Did you notice how silent these government men are on the issue? Truly, silence on these fake food products is golden, if you know what I mean.

TRUTH ON FAKE PRODUCTS MAY YET ELUDE US: Why is this happening? For those responsible for spreading the fake products, greed is the reason for their doing this. For those buying what would turn out later as fake products, greed is similarly the reason—greed, because in their desire to cut on cost or expenses, they are driven to buy lower-priced goods which are actually fake.

On the other hand, it could also be possible that this whole thing of fake products flooding Philippine markets is being orchestrated by those who desire to destroy the entry into our country of imported items, particularly of rice and vegetable and fruits, and even of meat. I remember this kind of a strategy was already used before with news that hogs and poultry suppliers were feeding pigs and chicken with the flesh of dead persons.

Or, perhaps, this could also be the work of importers—legal or otherwise—who are out to destroy the products of the countries which compete with what they are bringing into the country, again legal or otherwise, so their own products could enjoy the patronage of Filipinos. With incompetent and inept officials we have around these days, we may never know the truth anymore!
