LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… I have seen another evil under the sun, and it weighs heavily on mankind: God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead…” (Eclessiastes 6:1-2, the Holy Bbile).

FACEBOOK: IT IS JUST A MATTER OF MONEY? Facebook has, of late, been deleting my columns which various Facebook groups have been allowing to be posted in their accounts for the last 10 years or so that I am Facebook account holder. The notifications I am receiving from that social networking site say that my columns were removed or deleted because they are considered as a “spam”.

At first, I had been diligently contesting the decision of Facebook to remove or delete my columns. Lately, however, I desisted, because I saw what motivated Facebook to label my columns as “spam”, and then delete them altogether.

What did I see? Well, I have been receiving, at the same time, notices from Facebook telling me that I could “boost” my posts so they would reach more readers! Unfortunately, Facebook was asking for money so my posts could be “boosted”. Oh well, so it is clear: Facebook was only after the money, and at the rate things are going, the day will come that all of us will be asked to pay for each and every post we will make.

FACEBOOK POSTS INTENDED TO LINK THE PRESIDENT TO P6.4 B SHABU? Some Facebook posts pertaining to the declarations made before the House of Representatives by Fidel Anoche Dee, the confessed caretaker of the Valenzuela City warehouse where some P6.4 billion worth of shabu was recovered after it was released under mysterious circumstances by the Bureau of Customs, are now going viral.

One of these posts even came from a famous lawyer who is also from Mindanao, and it is clear that the intention here is to entice our people to believe what Dee declared,  to the effect that the P6.4 billion shabu was started to be taken out from the Bureau of Customs and delivered to the Valenzuela City warehouse sometime in June 2016, after then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was already declared president-elect, with further deliveries in January, March, and May, all of 2017, after his oath-taking.

“This is big. Think of the dates. Look at the connections. We are indeed a narco state but guess who is implicated, and where it reaches,” the lawyer said. Well, as far as I am concerned, Malacanang should immediately respond to this, because the clear maneuver on what Dee said is to point to the current administration as the culprit in connection with the P6.4 billion shabu.

ALEJANO: WHY IS THE PRESIDENT SILENT? And, indeed, this is what appears to be happening now. Is it not a fact that Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano has a media release in which he was criticizing what to him was the “suspicious” silence of Duterte on the illicit release of the shabu in question from the Customs during the months that the issue is hogging the headlines? This is highly dubious, said the lawmaker who earlier filed an impeachment complaint against the President.

Alejano also quipped: “Duterte has been suspiciously silent on an issue involving illegal drugs of this scale. The President kills small-time drug addicts in the streets while tons of drugs like these just pass through…”

“As the administration boasts the warming and closer relations of the Philippines and China, maybe the President could nudge his friends in China for their cooperation in this transnational problem on illegal drugs. It is not a new knowledge that China is one of the major sources of illegal drugs,” he said.
