LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, to them he gave the right to become children of God. They became children of God not because of human desire, nor of their parents’ decision, but they were born of God…” (John 1:12-13, the Holy Bible).

“BORN OF GOD”: In our lives as believers in God, it is but fitting and proper, in a manner of speaking, if we try to understand whether we can be considered as having been “born of God” and, as a consequence, whether we are now “children of God”. What does “born of God” mean? How is one “born of God”?

If we read John 1:12-13, Matthew 13:10-16, Matthew 16:18, and 1 John 5:20, among others, it would be clear that a person can be considered as having “born of God” if he or she accepted and received Jesus as God and Savior, and as God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with full understanding.

What does the phrase “accepted and received Jesus with full understanding” mean? It means acceptance and belief in Jesus with full understanding of why one is accepting and believing in Him as God and Savior, according to the steps or processes which the Bible itself prescribed to be followed or complied with.

STEPS TOWARDS MAKING A PERSON “BORN OF GOD”: The first of these steps consists in a person proclaiming, through his lips, that he accepted, received, and believed in Jesus as his or her God and Savior, and as God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The second step is this: through one’s mind, heart, soul and spirit, a person must endeavor to fully grasp and understand the Biblical proofs that Jesus is God and Savior, and is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

If a person does not, fails, or refuses outright, to understand the proofs from the Bible that Jesus is God and Savior, that person is not truly “born of God”, and he is not completely given the status or the right to become a Child of God Blood Kin of the Christ.

“B-B-T-D-T”: WHAT IS THAT? The third step in accepting and receiving Jesus with full understanding is obedience to, compliance with, or fulfillment of, His commands. Principal of these is known by this group of letters, representing several words in Filipino—“B-B-T-D-T”, which actually commands everyone to read, study, and obey the Bible everyday, attend spiritual gatherings, and help the church through tithes and gifts so it can pursue its work for God.

Next to be complied with is proving one’s loyal standing as a believer in his or her thoughts, words, behavior or conduct, and in his or her appearance, according to what the Bible is saying likewise. Then, part of these steps would be the committed participation of the believer in carrying out God’s end-time work, which is basically proclaiming and saving souls.

If a believer will fulfill all of these steps, he or she will be considered “born of God”, and he or she will be given the right to become a Child of God Blood Kin of the Christ, who will be rewarded with three stages of salvation—salvation from the rigors and problems of daily living in this world, salvation from the Great Tribulation, and salvation in eternal life.
