TODAY’S MANNA

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 Jn. 2, KJV)

Three days ago, I woke-up at around 1AM and could not sleep until 3 AM. I’d extreme headaches, and my neck, too. Good because we’ve a digital device to measure blood pressure (BP). Whew! My BP was 134/93.My son, who is a Med. Tech. and works in one of the hospitals here in our City, explained to me that my BP was alreadypretty high as to my age.

So, the following day, I went againto my routineexercise. I regretted for neglecting it, in more than a month already. I jogged for more than an hour. I felt good. Then, I checked my BP again, it was 124/71. It was just a 1-day exercise, but that its effect was pretty instantaneous. Thus, it encouraged me to maintain my regular exercise. After all, it ain’t that much. I can just handle it, specially in stretching my time schedules.

My nature of work does often lead me to some stress. Hence, if I cannot rest or if I neglect my regular exercise, it is an expected thing that I’d soon be feeling sick. I realized then that God after all has provided me inexpensive ways to maintain myhealth. All of us know it, thatphysical shape may be gained by eating vegetables and, not so expensive, fish. Well, both are ample here in Zamboanga City. The third is regular exercise.

In our house, we’ve enough space to jog around. I do nothave to even leave our compound. Thus, in my case, I do not have any reasons at all, under heaven, to complain for my health, because God has already provided me all the means, and even at my reach. Praise the Lord! How about you, what’s your story?

Indeed, to eat vegetables and fish, and to maintain a good exercise is always better than maintaining some medicines, because you are alreadyailing. Indeed, prevention is better than rehabilitation. I’ve a new and reborn joy again to do my dailyexercise. It feels great that you can right away see the changes in your body, after sweating-out. Check this out, too: one of the many benefits in a regular exercise is that you can sleep early, and without any hassles at nighttime.

Usually, it is our plain laziness—to push some extra miles, which keeps us to reap the good benefits for our individual health. Personally, when I feel tired, my easy excuse is that I cannot jog. Then, I’d talkto myself to just do it the next day. By procrastinating, I always dragged the time to a week and later to a month. Who to be blamed then, when my indolence would return to my body, definitely not others or God, it is solely my own laziness!

Hence, I should commit and make the necessary sacrifice. After all, who shall reap the great benefits:ME alone. I thought to share this hilarious experience to you, because I feel that there can be many out there—after reading this column, who can identify my recent predicament and, most of all, may also re-start a determined change for a healthy lifestyle.

Remember, others’ help may only be that much to ease you, but at the end of the day, you can always realize that it will be your personal actions which count more.“So, I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” (1 Cor. 9:26-27, ESV)

In my younger days, I didn’t usually eat breakfast. There were times also, that when my work would demand some extended hours that I’d even skip lunch and thus only ate at dinner time. Years later, its sure toll went back to my body. I developed hyperacidity. Thank God for healing me though. So, today I religiously eat my meals.

I don’t eat past beyond my normal and scheduled time—to eat my main meals. This had even become a personal advocacy, that I go to the extent of advising young people to eat their meals on time. More of all, my advices are pretty effective, that because of my previous personal experience.

You may have a same lifestyle today as I used to. My prayer: God shall use this humble article to open your mind. My friend, what good savings you can have, at the expense of your health, if things after all will not be enough to buy back the same health which you neglected! It ain’t late yet to change for the better.

It can absolutely happen if you are determined. It is always a personal decision, a will-power which only you can do it, and never other people. Candidly, at first it be quite tough. For example, if you are not used to eat your breakfast. Doing it may just simply involve a little discipline. Anyways, if you can maintain it, in just short as two weeks, your system will get used to it. Thus, it will later become a daily habit. Again, who gets the lone benefits? Solely YOU!

Life is beautiful. Every morning comes to bring us new promises to a good life. It is the desire of our Father to enjoy His blessings, here on earth. He wants our personal and family lives to prosper and be in health. Besides, one cannot serve the Lord better, if he is sickly. We can’t also be good examples to others, if we carry our own baggage of diseases. God bless you.
