LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… Jesus answered, `The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent…” (John 6:29, the Holy Bible).

US RAINS, FLOODS AND WINDS, PREDICTED IN THE BIBLE: Hurricane Irene was such a big news in the United States precisely because it was a storm so big and so powerful and strong which, media reports said, Americans experienced for the first time.

With Irene came unparalleled rains, floods and strong winds, and even seawater surging in many areas, causing billions of dollars in damage, as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday.

Come to think of it, could it be that the rains, floods, strong winds and surging seawater that came with Irene were exactly the rains, floods and strong winds and “roaring of the sea and waves” mentioned by Jesus Christ in Matthew 7:24-27 and Luke 21:25? What do you think, our dear readers here? Let me know, through 0917 984 24 68 or batasmauricio@yahoo.com.

MORE RAINS, FLOODS AND WINDS TO COME: And was it merely coincidental that while rains, floods and strong winds and surging seawater were battering the US, Filipinos were at the same time being buffeted by the same rains, floods and strong winds from Typhoon Mina, killing eight of them, and Taiwan was frantically scrambling to evacuate its citizens?

Moreover, have we seen the last of these “rains, floods and strong winds”? The answer would seem to be no, we have not, because, as per Jesus Christ Himself in Matthew 7:26-27, these calamities will continue to come and hit those who refuse to listen to His teachings and no longer obey His commands.

What is greatly worrisome is that, Jesus warned that total destruction will come from these rains, floods and strong winds, if people continue to be hardheaded in their refusal to submit themselves to God. As Jesus said, those who have ears, listen, those who have eyes, see!

GOOD DECISION, BOARD OF NURSING: I conform to the decision of the Professional Regulations Commission Board of Nursing to scrap the mass oath taking ceremonies for new nurses. That is just a waste of money. Let us just follow the style for new lawyers, who take their oath individually at the Office of the Bar Confidant of the Supreme Court.

LESSON FROM THE METROBANK ROW: There is a lesson to be learned from the Metrobank-Zhenron Corp. brouhaha—banks must endeavor to explain to their depositors, especially the unlettered, the details of their deposit agreement, including possible application of the deposit to any loan obligation of the depositors. Otherwise, banks cannot fault the public for thinking they are great money vultures.

DOJ MUST INSTILL FEAR OF GOD AMONG ITS FISCALS: The Department of Justice should stop whining about the acquittal given by Judge Juanita Ferry of the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court, to two of the so-called “Alabang Boys” over a drugs deal. Instead, the DOJ should institute reforms in its style of prosecuting criminal cases, coupled with making sure its prosecutors are God-fearing all the time.
